Gackt Gets Vocaloid, Berserk Creator Provides Avatar

Singer Gackt has leant his voice to a new vocaloid, dubbed Gackpoid, and Berserk creator Kentaro Miura has apparently deigned to provide him with the design for the avatar, for free, visible above – quite a departure from his usual style, I’m sure you’ll agree.
You can hear samples of the synthetic crooning on the official site. The software is due on the 25th of July, at a cost of some ¥18,900. It does not look as if this avatar will readily lend itself to an appealing incarnation as a nendoroid… Via ITmedia.
Miura has lately been busying himself evangelising the merits of Nico, and it seems no mention of his name is now complete without this fact. Evidently the literary heights of “wwwwwwwwwww” have beome more of a draw to him than putting his peerless magnum opus back on a regular release schedule; I trust he knows what he is doing.
He has some rather trite words on his declining a fee: “This project is closely connected to NicoNico, and since Nico users contribute without remuneration, I too would like to do so”. Easy for a man at the head of a multimillion dollar manga franchise to say, and of course it has to be noted that the software required to enter that musical community is far from free ($200 distant, in fact).
