Tiger Attack in Kyoto

One of the staff at Kyoto Zoo has apparently been killed by the tigers he was taking care of. Apparently, whilst cleaning the cage housing to the beasts he was suddenly attacked, being mauled thoroughly, and soon died after being rendered unconscious. The animals, a pair of Amur tigers, were later tranquilised and isolated.

It seems the cause of the accident was that a divider between two sections of the cage was left open, so allowing the tiger to get to him in the section he was cleaning, a rather grievous omission. Police are investigating whether safety procedures were properly followed, and the zoo is closed for the time being. Via Asahi.
