Tomohiro Kato, the maniac who in 2008 used a knife and a truck to conduct a bloody slaughter in Akihabara, slaying 7 and wounding a further 10, has finally been sentenced to death.
Akihabara’s “pedestrian paradise” is back – the roads are closed to all but foot traffic on Sundays once again, and many thousands of shoppers packed the area in celebration.
A man has gone on a bloody rampage at a Mazda automobile factory, running over and injuring or killing 11 people in an attack he claims was based on the notorious massacre conducted by a disgruntled otaku on the streets of Akihabara.
As part of the “dagger knife” ban instigated after the Akiba stabbing spree, a Japanese prefecture has banned knives used to prepare oysters “for being too pointy.”

An elderly lady (79) was arrested after randomly stabbing two female passersby, at Shibuya station in the heart of Tokyo, we hear.
A lady (34) who viciously attacked seven male passersbys at a station, injuring six of them, has been overpowered and arrested, we hear. Her rampage was only stopped when her last victim, a student, subdued her, and police took custody of her.

Famed seiyuu and singer 水樹奈々 / Nana Mizuki, as well as her legion of adoring fans, have been the subject of a devilish murder plot, another copycat of the arch-stabber, we are told.
Since the infamy in Akihabara, a wave of copycat would be stabbers has arisen, not to mention a number of actual stabbers, with police now having investigated a total of 300 incidents of threatened or actual violence, chiefly being posted to online bulletin boards.
