Excellent strategic PS3 RPG 戦場のヴァルキュリア / Valkyria Chronicles, due in English in November, is set to receive a manga adaptation, which in something of a surprising move, is to be a BL title focused on homoerotic senpai-kouhai antics.
The latest work of Type Moon, the famous producers of such acclaimed visual novels as Fate/stay Night and Tsuki Hime, has not even been released yet, and is not even a full visual novel, but we find an anime adaptation has already been decided.
As if the upcoming dance game and DS game weren’t enough, now the Wii is set to receive a second Haruhi game, provisionally titled 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 / Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (strangely familiar title there).
Virtual idol sensation Hatsune Miku is finally set to get a game to herself, Hatsune Miku Project DIVA (provisional title), set to be released in 2009 for the PSP, and to be developed by Sega. The game is set to be a rhythm game, unsurprisingly (you were expecting an FPS, perhaps?), apparently with elements of interior design.
A new Haruhi game is set for release on the Nintendo DS this Winter, set to follow the pattern of the Wii release in being an adventure game with extra gameplay elements suitable to the platform. The game will be published by Sega.
Fans of Valkyria Chronicles can rejoice; the first of what we can but hope will be a long line of expansions is set for online release in August.
Being a great fan of Valkyria Chronicles I couldn’t help but notice that finally the game is getting some interesting figure treatment (if we exclude the awful promotional launch figure); this Alicia figure is due for release in September, and apparently is designed with the aid of some novel software; the results certainly seem impressive (boots and armour are particularly well done, see below), but I am still not sure about the face – perhaps it is just the photograph or angle, but it looks a little plain.
