Vampiric schoolgirl heroine Akashiya Moka from ecchi vampire anime Rosario + Vampire is given quite the sexy cosplay by Koyuki, both in and out of her uniform.

The usual DVD marketing from Gonzo sees the latest Rosario + Vampire Capu2 DVD receive the removal of gratuitous censorship. However, fans have disappointedly likened the anticipated nipples added to unskilled nude filters, as they are not very convincingly illustrated.

They certainly do seem rather carelessly added. Of course, the series was hardly known for quality to begin with.

The third DVD is available now; it should be interesting to see how well the series sells overall, and whether Gonzo’s much reviled tactics are effective.

Bats and steam have disappeared from the second Rosario + Vampire CAPU2 DVD, prompting a seemingly amnesiac response from fans, who seem eager to buy. Only the sales will tell how eager.

Presumably this enthusiastic response is because anyone not an avowed fan of the series long ago abandoned it in the face of Gonzo’s abusive DVD marketing?

Or perhaps Gonzo was right to treat its otaku customers as rubes with the attention span and recollection of gnats…

The debacle that is vampire pantsu anime Rosario + Vampire Capu2 has degenerated into farce with the news that the supposedly decensored DVD has actually been not so subtly altered to tone down the pantsu content, with the MX TV broadcast versions actually more ecchi than the DVD.

You can see this in the comparisons above (the uppermost image is actually the DVD) and below, undertaken by a 2ch pantsu watcher.

Bizarrely, this censorship appears alongside the uncensored nipples we saw in the original comparison. This could bode ill for future DVD releases, which certainly appeared to be along more ecchi lines…

Just what is Gonzo thinking?

Though butchered by censorship in the TV airing, it seems the DVD release of Rosario+Vampire Capu2 manages to rescue matters somewhat and is now being favourably received by such fans as remain. The addition of nipples and uncensoring of various scenes has everything to do with this.

The reduction in bat induced censorship is so great as to not warrant too much detail lest we drown in it, but we can at least have a look at some interesting crowd raep and brief nipple addition by way of animation:

The DVD edition has just been released; no special edition seems to be in evidence.

Near bankrupt anime studio Gonzo are desperately turning more than ever to their apparently tried and tested “Rosario+Censorship=DVD Sales” business plan.

In the 11th episode we see that censorship cuts by way of censorship mascot kuma are not only more numerous than ever before, they are also hugely more obtrusive, with any potential DVD sales point now obscured by several kuma, where before the mascot merely sat in the middle of the pantsu.

As many as four kuma now plaster the slightest flash of pantsu:

A staggering 72 cuts (with 5 by bat and the rest by bear) now render this anime an unashamedly drawn out advert for the DVD.

In case you were wondering, this was the Osaka version. Tokyo MX is known for broadcasting uncensored editions, but in this case that merely results in a 20% reduction in kuma-cuts.

Censorship marketing anime Rosario + Vampire Capu2 has once again had a resurgence in ludicrous DVD sales mascot injection: in the seventh episode, we hear the heavily censored Osaka TV edition has more than doubled the number of spoiling bats and bears from 11 previously up to a huge 24, though plenty of shots are left uncovered as usual.

Unfortunately, people seem to continue to watch it all the same, and perhaps will even buy the DVDs, so it’s too early to gleefully point this out as evidence of Gonzo’s much deserved formerly impending bankruptcy.

It looks as though censorship anime Rosario + Vampire has opted to relax its experiment in censorship marketing somewhat; we hear that the latest episode, even in its puritanical Osaka TV version, has a mere 11 appearances of the dreaded DVD sales mascots… Tokyo MX may have even fewer.

Perhaps this presages a relaxation of their previously aggressive marketing activities? Fans, or what is left of them at any rate, are certainly hoping so.

Censorship marketing anime Rosario + Vampire Capu2 continues to experience a plague of bats, and, lately, bears. The brazen and utterly pointless censorship seems rapidly to be eroding the positive reception (such as it was) the series received from fans.

As we saw before, each episode seems to be averaging about 80 panchira shots; it’s not clear how may this, the fifth, receives, but a count reveals no less (or more) than 21 censored scenes, with 11 by bat and 10 by kuma.

The remainder, as you see below, seems not to bother even censorship maniacs such as Osaka TV.

By now, it seems practically certain that these marks are put in solely to give a boost to DVD sales, assuming the series has any fans left by its conclusion. What other explanation could there be?

Rosario + Vampire Capu2 looks to have attracted the ire of censors in truly extreme fashion, for now we hear that the pantsu service anime has been mauled evenly more severely in the fourth episode than previously; not just pantsu, but now even brassieres elicit the appearance of DVD sales bat, and the bathing scenes are almost totally whited out with steam.

We are also granted an unwelcome introduction to DVD sales bear. How nice of them to provide not one, but two censorship mascots.

As you might expect, tentacles and tentacle raep are considered sufficicently innocent as to be completely unaffected.

Fans are beside themselves. Now that even Tokyo MX are broadcasting a censored version (it’s not clear how badly this faired with the latest episode), things are starting to look rather bleak for service aficionados…

A sad day for pantsu vampire fans; Pantsu + Vampire viewers report that even the formerly untouched Tokyo MX broadcast version now has the unwelcome addition of pantsu obscuring bats, previously only seen on puritanical stations, though with nowhere the near the numbers seen elsewhere.

The panchira count, hovering around 80 for the past two episodes, seems unaffected however.

The incomprehensible actions of the censors strike once more; spoiling the anime with a handful of bats achieves nothing in rendering child safe an anime which isn’t even broadcast in a family timeslot, and almost all of the shots remain completely uncovered.

Might we draw the conclusion that this is a transparent ruse to give them a selling point for their DVD release? It looks as though Kanokon has shown the way in this regard – better to power up the DVD version rather than merely cut down (or in this case, simply spoil) the broadcast version.

Vampire pantsu anime ロザリオとバンパイア CAPU2 / Rosario + Vampire Capu2 looks set to be the season’s premier service anime, with second episode delivering a pantsu laden performance which may even challenge the 80 odd panchira which packed out the first episode.

Fans have yet to enumerate the flashes of underwear which seem to accompany every shift of the camera, but it looks as though there are a lot of them.

You may be disappointed to learn that the bizarrely incomplete censorship inflicted upon the title by some stations continues as strong as ever, though plenty of stations broadcast the unspoilt version, which you see here.

Whilst fans of the series are unlikely to be dissuaded from following the series at this stage, the reaction from the more general audience seems mixed. It seems no amount of pantsu will distract some from poor production values…

Newly airing pantsu anime Rosario + Vampire Capu2 may have suffered at the hands of censors, but this did not stop it from easily seizing the lead in the panchira stakes for his season.

Observant fans have counted the shots, and the top figure emerging is no less than 82 shots, which means a flash of underwear is displayed on average once every 18 seconds or so.

It looks as if the only competitor to this of late is the recently concluded Strike Witches, which manages near continuous pantsu-like thing exposure… Some may not be inclined to consider these true panchira as a result though, providing an interesting conundrum.

Regarding the censorship, it seems flying a bat on top of 82 shots is too much even for Japan’s at times excessively rigourous hiders of corrupting underwear, so many, if not most, go uncensored.

The gall of censoring part of a work, and then apparently giving up and leaving the rest, is not something many take lightly. Couldn’t they have just left the whole thing alone in that case?

Ecchi vampire anime ロザリオとバンパイア CAPU2 / Rosario + Vampire Capu2 has become the target of utterly draconian and shameless censorship it seems, with the crude mutilation of the title not even bothering to resort to the figurative and literal fig leaf of regional physics.

As you can see above and below, viewers in some areas are treated to mysterious pantsu occluding bats, amongst other efforts at DVD sales promotion.

The offending broadcasters in this case are Osaka TV and Aichi TV, with Tokyo MX as usual providing a completely untouched version. It seems there will be another split between the stations looking to censor and those content to allow viewers to decide for themselves what is appropriate.

Interestingly, the first season was broadcast uncensored by all… Is there some underlying factor prompting these actions?

Regarding the work itself, nobody cares about the story and the comedy and panchira are fine, so it may be one to watch, assuming there are no bats in the way of things.
