Tsundere sadist Louise and the other girls can finally be seen wearing fetching Index-a-like nun habits in the latest episode of Louise F, although the results are anything but chaste and holy…

Index has moved to Italy for her new arc, and with the move comes some of the most revealing bathing action yet seen in the show, for once hopefully pleasing both A and B camps.

Continuing on the heels of the previous episode, the 5th episode of To Aru Majutsu no Index II supplies ample amounts of action, providing what might be the best overall battle scene so far in the second season, combined with even more of the luscious nun service the show is known for.

The scene of the Anieze battle nuns self-mutilating themselves en masse to defeat Index’s Sheol Fear at the end of the previous episode was enough of a sight to be worth repeating, both in this new episode and here:

Orsola / Ursula, over there on the left, is still the driving force behind the episode.

The mid-episode battle with the cute, platform-heel wearing nun Agnese Sanctis is definitely the highpoint of the episode.

All but a few medium-distance establishing shots are animated in the high quality JC Staff has been putting into the pivotal scenes for its top-billed shows like Toradora!, Index, and Railgun.

The choice of tsundere queen seiyuu Rie Kugiyama for Agnese suits the character perfectly – see her facial expressions:

Sadly, that’s as high as the skirt rides up in this shot.

Touma continuing his usual role of functioning as punching bag.

Innocentius for the first time in nearly two years, long enough that it may take a few moments to remember just what exactly this thing even is.

The lens flare makes these screenshots look more blurry that they actually appear in the episode, but Index’s fire and flame effects are as good as ever.

Plainclothes Church of England quasi-nun (technically more of a saintly sorceress) Kanzaki Kaori makes an appearance as well.

Her seiyuu, Shizuka Ito, has a substantial, near decade-long catalog of work behind her, mostly focusing on supporting roles, excepting her roles as Okami-San’s Ryoko, Amagami SS’s Haruka, and Sekirei’s Benitsubasa.

Kanzaki’s spoken line for the above frame deserves a caption:

“脱ぎません！ (I will not undress!)”

Stiyl appears to travel between Britain and Japan fairly quickly…

The commericals for the Tokyo MX broadcast happened to include this one, showing some of the extras from the December issue of Shonen Gangan:

The 5th episode of To Aru Majutsu no Index II delivered decidedly less service than some previous episodes, but still managed deliver some choice images of a buxom nun being abused and Index‘s first use of her powerful crowd control ability, Sheol Fear.

This point in a series (a full third into a cour, or three-month cycle) is the time when some TV series might begin to show significant lapses in production quality in contrast to the early episodes, which are usually given the best attention possible to draw in new viewers, but as might be expected with a top-tier series like this, JC Staff is still doing a commendable job.

The overall static nature of the episode (with relatively few location changes) might be partly responsible in helping stretch the episode’s budget, but whatever the reason, screens like these scenery-heavy ones came out looking excellent.

Some viewers might (perhaps) find themselves recalling a walking scene with Kyon and Nagato here, if it wasn’t for Stiyl – also ignoring the fact that Nagato is an android and not a nun…

The aforementioned nun abuse, which understandably constitutes a good percentage of screencaps taken for this episode:

Given that they share the same seiyuu, comparing angry Agnese’s voice to Zero no Tsukaima’s Louise in tsun mode makes for an interesting contrast.

Agnese’s platform shoes take a heavy toll on poor Orsola (aka Ursula)’s chest…

What these screenshots do not show is how well animated all of these shenanigans are; the animation for the action bits is a step-up from last episode’s, and Orsola’s body appears to be quite supple indeed.

The above screen could possibly carry the hope that an eventual disc release might reveal a bit more detail in the darkened abyss between the nun’s thighs, but given the series’ overall atmosphere, that cannot be seen as a certainty.

Stiyl’s pyrotechnics are as impressive as ever.

What is missing here is the highly fluid oppai animation for this spear-twisting scene, as in the classic “Gainax bounce” that became peculiarly famous among foreign otaku over a decade ago.

Itsuwa’s spear scenes are fun enough to earn her a second screenshot:

Index getting mobbed by angry battle nuns, a prospect which doesn’t sound nearly as distressing as it perhaps should.

Cute little Index, who is actually one of the series’ most powerful characters but is normally unable to use most, if not all, of her abilities, finally gets to unleash her “Sheol Fear” area-of-effect ability.

A good amount of the following minute of the episode is taken up by these pretty anime-style sparkly effects, like so:

Index does look quite lovely here – though the poor nuns might disagree:

Angelene fortunately is around for a few moments, although her freckles seem to be camouflaged here.

These last shots should make sense to novel-readers, or those who have also seen the entertaining episode.

A CM aired during the episode advertised this tempting December issue of 電撃大王 / Dengeki Daioh, which includes a certain moe phone-strap treasure inside:

The 3rd showing of To Aru Majutsu no Index II delivers another well received episode, delving deeper into the world of miniskirt-wearing, be-stockinged  nuns, combined with the typically good production quality of one of JC Staff’s top-billed shows.

In addition to the lovely nun-service, fans have another reason to be enthused: the contents of the episode make it fairly clear the anime adaptation is well into Index II’s first major story arc.

Agneses’ (voiced by tsundere-queen Rie Kugiyama) platform shoes continue to make for good fetish material.

Stiyl looks as great as ever, probably only losing to Accelerator for the show’s most interesting male character design.

The battle nuns (Anieze Forces) always for appealing eye-candy.

Note the cute loli battle nun with braids – her name happens to be Angelene.

The action scenes are generally animated fluidly, like with this tumble of poor Index’s here.

This Touma and nun (named Aquinas, amusingly enough) scene is another excellent example of good screenshot material:

Poor Angelene happens to be voiced by 伊瀬 茉莉也 / Mariya Ise, who also happens to be the seiyuu for Stocking from Gainax’s Panty & Stocking, surprisingly enough.

A few of the CMs aired during the broadcast on Tokyo MX should prove interesting to fans:

A CM for the To Aru Kagaku OVA, luckily giving Saten a chance to at least appear during an Index II broadcast for a few seconds.

This rather appealing figure version of Index, the heroine of A Certain Magical Index, is on the verge of release and looks to be the benchmark for future Index moe figures (at least until the inevitable cosplay variants), so a closer look is worthwhile.

It is also possible to strip off her clothes…

The cat, Sphinx, is also included.

It looks to be a gorgeous figure, but her wretched safety pins seem to causing problems for both illustrators and figure sculptors.

In this case, the pins look to be the weakest element of the figure; I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t opt for actual miniature safety pins, rather than the ugly filled in ones we see. The official shots you see here are the same as the actual product, of which some sample photos are available.

Still, nobody will likely hold this against her, and it is after all possible to disrobe her…

The figure itself, by Kotobukiya, is due towards the end of the month, and will be around the ¥6,000 mark.

This image confronts us with the, to many at least, deliciously appealing waki of Index, the eponymous moe nun of A Certain Magical Index.

What you also may notice, however, is that the earlier mystery we explored regarding her moe magnetic safety pins seems to have temporarily receded (we still see it before and after in other illustrations).

There is no satisfactory explanation as yet, so let us leave it at that.

Magical nun anime とある魔術の禁書目録 /  A Certain Magical Index finally airs, and the title looks to be very promising. Ample magical powers, drama, and comedy, along with some interesting nun stripping action, are brought together with excellent production values, making A Certain Magical Index an anime with broad appeal.

This is certainly not a full service anime, but it certainly seems quick to divest poor Index of clothes. For something airing at 3am anything can be expected, so it will be interesting to see whether they develop this.

Additionally, she seems to be rather charmingly animated…

Animation is good, with some good character animation, CG elements and what look to be quite striking magical powers. The near future environments are moderately distinctive, though they remain rather plain.

Seiyuu work is also good, with Index and protagonist being well cast. Protagonist himself looks to be of the non-annoyingly useless variety, something of a relief.

Interestingly, the seiyuu for Church of England nun Index, 井口裕香 / Yuka Iguchi, has barely a lead role of note to her name, so this may be her big break.

One area where the title stands out is music; the relatively edgy electronic score makes a welcome change from the usual J-pop seiyuu cash-ins.

I was certainly pleased by this title, and it definitely looks to be highly watchable A-rank series, and one which looks set to create a miniature nun moe boom.

This, along with ToraDora, looks to be one of the top titles airing this season (I would personally add Tales of the Abyss to the list), so you may have little option but to give it a try. I do not think many will be disappointed.
