Major otaku stores (Tora no Ana, Melonbooks, etc.) frequently display lists of their Top 10 bestselling doujinshi, but the most watched rankings are always the ones in the weeks following Comiket.
As Comiket 76 ended last week, there is the interesting opportunity to inspect these doujinshi rankings from three major Akihabara shops – Tora no Ana, Messe Sanoh and Melonbooks.

Popular eroge derived mahou shoujo anime Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha is to receive what is being billed as its “4th series”, although the new production will actually be a comic, at least to start, a change which has surprised fans.
Less surprising to fans, but possibly problematic to some, is that the series will no longer be billed as “Mahou Shoujo” Lyrical Nanoha, but as 魔法戦記リリカルなのはForce / Mahou Senki Lyrical Nanoha Force, senki here meaning something along the lines of “Martial Chronicle”.

Volks is releasing two new anime character Dollfies (BJD, or ball jointed dolls) in the forms of a Fate/Stay Night’s Illyasviel von Einzbern Mini Dollfie Dream and a Nanoha Takamachi Dollfie Dream.
The spectacular Saber Dollfie is likely to remain the premiere anime Dollfie for some time, but these two newer dolls should be of interest to some, as they both clearly exhibit Volks’ strong focus on quality…

Might it be possible to judge an artist by their Horo? Certainly Tony and Simoshi seem to pour their talents into the wolfish sage; here we see another superb rendition, by みかづきあきら / Mikazuki Akira, also going by the name of Trimoon, a freelance CG artist of evident skill and taste.

This maniacal otaku bought no less than five of the newly released 1/7 scale 八神はやて / Yagami Hayate figures, each in the region of ¥10,000, marking him out as an otaku’s otaku indeed. Stacked, the boxes reach a height of some 2m. Is he perhaps trying to communicate something?
Observers are speculating as to just what he needs five of them for; one to admire, one to save, one to show off, and… ?
