Details on the airing of the next season of Slayers Revolution, cunningly titled Slayers Evolution-R, have been announced; we hear that the first broadcast will be 9PM on the 12th of January, 2009, on AT-X. It’s yet not clear whether other stations will carry the series.

That there will be an additional season (13 episodes) of Slayers after the current has been officially confirmed, although it was basically planned this way (in 26 episodes) from the beginning. In fact, it might be more accurate to say they have decided not to cancel it.
Considering that Revolution wasn’t exactly a spectacular success, there may have been a slight chance of abandonment if the response was cool enough, but it seems to have picked up and be doing well enough. Via Moon Phase.

A most original, and perhaps appropriate, reworking of the Slayers Revolution OP comes to my attention, bringing to the fore her admirable wickedness and roguishness. Behold, Ultimate Brute Lina Inverse:

Looks likes Slayers Revolution beat the recent and rather vigourous earthquake (all the other channels there are showing reports of the earth struggling in vain to heave off the oppressive weight of Japanese cities), but otherwise its ratings have been notably abysmal, having gone from a respectable 2.5% at start to a pathetic 0.8%, at the very bottom of the pile… things are not looking good for the continuance of Lina and the gang’s adventures at present.

I couldn’t help but notice the musical career of the great 林原めぐみ / Megumi Hayashibara is set to get a boost with release of two new titles coinciding with the onset of Slayers Revolution. Announced is “Plenty of Grit/Revolution”, the Slayers Revolution OP/ED single, due July the 23rd, and スレイヤーズ MEGUMIX / Slayers MEGUMIX, a 3 CD album due June the 25th, coming with a huge variety of extras.
A development sure to please Slayers and Megumi fans alike (if there can be said to be much difference between the two).

The long awaited release of the new Slayers anime, Slayers Revolution, after an 11 year hiatus, is heating up with the start of the manga version, being serialised in Dragon Age – see here for some more detail. Whilst it would probably be an exaggeration to say the manga adaptations of Slayers have ever been highly regarded in comparison to the excellent anime and novels, it is heartening to see Lina Inverse and company back in action after such a long gap – who can doubt that Megumi Hayashibara will reprise her role with as much gusto as ever?
