Somebody has finally noticed that all anime openings are identical cut-and-pastes of the same elements ad nauseam, and gone so far as to compile a helpful meta-OP template video to prove it.

It’s always amused me the repeated imagery that exist in anime opening credit sequences. This video doesn’t cover them all, but it has a lot of the big ones. Interesting thing I learned, if a character is running it’s overwhelmingly to the left of the screen.

I first started thinking about this years ago when I saw the X-Men intro that they made in Japan to replace the American one. The part that especially hit home was Wolverine, and Cyclops standing on some nondescript land mass.

For this I used only textless credits I found on Youtube (with the exception of Evangelion). So if your favorite anime isn’t in here either there was no textless version or it had a pretty unique opening sequence.

Fortunately, all major anime have access to at least 8 hair colours, 2 genders and 5 different costumes to help make the cutting and pasting a little less noticeable.

Even the most talented of artists have a tendency to make embarrassing artistic gaffes from time to time (or with disturbing frequency in some cases), whilst talentless artists feeling the pressure of a deadline or a tight budget seem able to make even the most innocuous of erotic art into an exercise in deformed contortionism…

More failed things.

Steamy yuri scenes from mainstream games of all kinds have been compiled into the video below for the edification of viewers, demonstrating that scenes of hot lesbian love are not merely the preserve of 18+ eroge:

Despite their $80 price tags it seems eroge are not always immune from the kind of dismal art and non-existent quality control which plague so much anime and manga, resulting in some particularly grotesque scenes of sexual chaos.

An enormous three and a half hour medley of Hatsune Miku classics is currently being extremely well received on Nico; 50 songs are included so it should keep you going for a while.

The songs are numbered and there is an index at the start, but unfortunately the creator’s MyList is not ordered, so some digging or asking in the comments may be required (if anyone has or makes an ordered list I will add it).

Regarding Nanoha’s presence here, even several Japanese commentators on Nico seem to be unaware that the Nanoha series is actually a spin-off of the Triangle Heart eroge and OVA series started around 2000, meaning Nanoha actually has eroge roots and so qualifies.

Also, I was surprised to see that Popotan is nearly 6 years old by now – it seems like it came out just yesterday…
