Japan’s premier magazine for traps has been attracting even more notoriety, this time for enclosing a sports bra and shimapan for boys of the “otoko no ko” persuasion.

Issue 6 of Oto★Nyan comes with a bra and pantsu for boys, randomly in either pink, green or purple horizontal stripes, in addition to the usual art, comics and articles addressing the finer of points of femininity for non-females:

The precise size is not specified, but it is said to be “highly elasticated,” and so will presumably fit a wide variety of effete male frames.

A survey of women bra-users finds some 27% see no need to wear one outside, whilst 44% regard pink bras as even sexier than black ones, and washboard lovers distressed by the inflating cup sizes enjoyed by Japanese women will be pleased to know 20% of the female population is still A-cup…

The survey of 10,342 Japanese women was conducted by top Japanese underwear maker Wacoal.

When asked where they would feel comfortable going bra-less, of the six choices – going out for a walk, popping out on a bicycle, going off on the train, going anywhere, never going out without a bra and never going bra-less even at home – 27% responded they would be happy going off no-bra.

Breast-size also played a role – 31.9% of A-cup women were happy to go out without a bra, compared to only 20.2% of E-cup women.

Problems with fit likely also contributed, with 83.7% of women reporting some kind of discomfort experienced as a result of wearing a bra.

The actual breakdown of cup-sizes reported (although given the above fact just how well these women know their own sizing is something to ponder):

AA/A – 19%

B – 28%

C – 25%

D – 15%

E – 7%

F+ – 5%

Aside from reasons of comfort or aesthetic considerations, there is some doubt as to whether there is any pressing medical reason to wear a bra – the notion that a bra has any positive impact on sagging is not supported by any proper medical research, though of course it is supported by underwear manufacturers (Wacoal accuses bra-less women of “lacking bust-care awareness”), and 43.1% of the women surveyed believed it as well.

The survey also quizzed women on what colours they regarded as best for their “victory bra” – pink came first with 43.7%, followed by black with 39.8%, perhaps explaining something about the nation’s low birthrate.

A discussion amongst female Japanese gamers sees them united in loathing breast jiggle in games, denouncing it as “unrealistic,” “gross” and “like aliens.”

Huge breasted women have to wear bras to avoid rupturing blood vessels and their mammary glands, all extremely painful. Also they will stretch with age and sag badly eventually. But it’s a fantasy world so that’s all OK!

Japanese companies apparently lead the way in this area – something western gamers stuck staring at Morrigan’s rock solid cleavage can only lament.

The issue is actually a lot more complex than it might at first seem – firstly, adding breast physics is still a technologically intensive process which needs some return on the effort involved, explaining why such physics are still conspicuous by their presence and not their absence (similar issues surround hair, clothing and body fat physics).

Additionally, media portrayals of jiggle do tend to be unnaturally statuesque – implants tend to behave unrealistically, and films and TV often do their absolute best to ensure performers are firmly strapped down for reasons of censorship.

The issue of realism is also a double-edged line of criticism – clearly a lot of female characters in games are not wearing sports bras, and may be wearing clothing which could not possibly give any support or living in settings where no such bras exist, suggesting they should actually be jiggling even more if the game is to provide a realistic body image, rather than giving the impression breasts are lumps of bone or plastic.

Finally, from the comments above it seems many Japanese women apparently have no idea how naturally large breasts actually behave (i.e. essentially as bags of water), and it must of course be noted that Japanese women are generally not known for being well endowed themselves – possibly this colours their attitudes to seeing busty female characters in video games…

A survey into the sexual preferences of women reveals almost half prefer to preserve their modesty during sex by remaining at least partially clothed, although men quizzed on this overwhelmingly preferred them to fully strip for sex.

The survey, taking in 1,563 UK participants, found that 48% of women responded that they preferred to keep wearing at least one article of clothing during sex, with 54% citing concerns about their body as the reason.

The survey also found 24.6% wanted bras to give them a size boost, but the majority were more concerned with practicalities – 32.9% wanted a comfortable “natural” fit, and 32.8% “firm support.”
