Japan’s latest robot creation is an impressive combination of bipedal humanoid locomotion and simulated human interaction.
The robot, charmingly known as HRP-4C, can walk and talk with reasonable aplomb, being able to manage a self-introduction and a saunter which is optimistically described as being “just like a fashion model.”

Bandai has declared its intent to create a freestanding, full scale Gundam for the Gundam 30th anniversary celebrations. The giant robot will stand 18m tall, and is set to be publically exhibited in July.
The Gundam in question is the RX-78-2 Gundam, the iconic mecha from the first series.

George Miller, original director of the Mad Max series of movies, has revealed plans to make an anime sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic, petrol-scavenging movie that propelled the then unknown actor Mel Gibson to stardom.
This comes as the latest news in a recent trend of Hollywood involvement with anime, which includes the Dragonball film and the upcoming Cowboy Bebop live-action film that will star Keanu Reeves.

Japan’s biggest figure event, Wonder Festival (WonFes), had been on an uncertain hiatus since the escalator accident of WonFes 2008 Summer, but event goers will be elated to know the 2009 Summer event will resume, albeit not at the Big Sight, but at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba.
WonFes 2008 Winter was set to open this February, but the controversy over the refusal of the event’s organizer (Kaiyodo) and the Tokyo Big Sight to accept responsibility for the non-lethal accident which injured 10 people (including some broken limbs) forced the cancellation of the Winter event and has apparently spurred the WonFes to abandon the famed Big Sight in favor of the Messe center.
