A) It’s a unique artstyle, which means it’s going to greatly appeal to some and greatly repel others. If it had a generic run-of-the-mill artstyle, it wouldn’t do much of anything.

B) There’s more to animation than just the animation itself. I’d think this should be obvious.

B) The Sega Saturn was FAR superior to the MD/Genesis, especially in Japan.

I’m also surprised by the lack of Morrigan. Even people who haven’t heard of Darkstalkers know Morrigan.
