I was told once that I was "too defiant to be a submissive." It was at a fetish night at one of the local clubs. I've a high pain tolerance, so B&D/S&M was actually fun for me (and as you say Antika – there's a balance) because the mistress at the time was very skilled in her, in my opinion, craft (an art-form in and of itself). The better the person who is dominant, the easier it is to trust them as they can modify the play to suit each individual. This, I believe, is the most important aspect of S&M – knowing intrinsically the limits of your partner(s).

And, yes, as mentioned previously, I do know that S&M, B&D, and D&S, are all different things. Apparently – and this is just hearsay – it is possible to get (English) teaching positions in North Korea. I personally would like to do that. Since the country was completely barred to foreign entry for 83 years (there were a total of 3 (yes, THREE) foreigners “permitted” within the country’s borders in that time – all followed and guarded by two officers at all times) the idea of “seeing it for myself” is intriguing. There’s ‘what you see in the media’ and ‘what you see in books’ and yes, even Western *propaganda* (if you think we don’t have propaganda and spin-doctored lies here, think again), and then there is ‘reality.’ Even if one is not permitted to take photos and is exposed to daily internal propaganda – what one sees with their own eyes is significantly different than what one is shown through the (ever so truthful) media (note: extreme sarcasm). I’m certain that what would be experienced within the country would be heart-breaking – unless one is callous, cold, and unfeeling, but at the same time – there must be something about the country that the world is NOT being told that’s good. What of the people? The HEART of those who are oppressed under the thumb of an authoritarian state? What can I say – I want to know. To experience it for myself, and live with them – even if it’s just for a half a year or a year. (Of course, I also want to be a war journalist… so I think “Fuckin’ Crazy,” as my friends call me, is accurate enough).
