Plus, I have been learning Aegis, so I want to rip them and create the ”Ultimate Lucky Star Fansub!” **fist pumps**
The price is outrageous, but it’s a such a beautiful set. And all the goodies inside. At least it doesn’t feel like a total ripoff! (No. That’ll be the box set for ”Endless Eight” LOL)

I watched the trailer and it was just as vomit-inducing as I had imagined. But what I found interesting was that, when I voiced my opinion of the voice actors (Yui and Ritsu in particular), I was pummeled by like 12 people. One wag even declared that ”most dubs are as good, and sometimes better(???) than the original”. HUH???
I was just speechless. I honestly didn’t know how to respond without maligning the dude’s, intelligence, lineage and dubious hygiene habits (ok maybe not that far).
So my question is, mina, am I really in that much of a minority? I will take a sub over a dub any day. I feel a lot is missed, (read: purposely cut, re-written, censored or just dumbed-down) and I just hate the tendency of the U.S. licensors to give the girls squeaky high-pitched voices.
That voice is adorable in Japanese but in English it is nails on the chalkboard. Why not try to convey the CHARACTER rather than badly imitate the seiyu.
To illustrate, the Strike Witches US dub featured a Valley-girl sounding Major Sakamoto. Yep, the gruff drill-instructor with the booming laugh was as squeaky as everyone else. OH!!! and since the whole fucking inustry over here seems to have decided to do away with the honorifics
