The 3D looks very good, and completely unobtrusive. If I have a complaint, it’s that they kept the relatively low frame rate to the animation. While it does look more like a Guilty Gear that way, Street Fighter 3 and numerous SNK games show us that high rate of animation really improves the appearance. I [...]

I’ve played PazuDora on a friend’s recommendation. it’s fairly fun for a puzzle game, but nothing to justify this kind of speculation. It gets old quick.

Eagerly awaiting the Kuroneko girlfriend bit…so it can be over and done with already. I like Kirino Ayase and Saori a lot better than her.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Tomodachi ga Sukunai “Live Action Movie Due”   2 weeks, 5 days ago · View

I agree with this. I do think this show is actually really funny, but the way the fanservice is kind of shoved in there in a really obvious but not very satisfying way (they almost never show anything) keeps me from recommending it to my pervert or non pervert friends. Maybe a live action would [...]

Seems proof, along with every other poll, that maybe, just maybe, people on Sankaku comment threads hate Kirino a hell of a lot more than anyone else.

Not only is she not there, but Manami is there for spoiler reasons that involve Kirino as well.

Get over it, people are allowed to like tsundere.

Alas, the legal system isn’t that great for the plaintiff in this case. Coming from America and living here now, I really am shocked at how little the citizens use their legal rights. I’m also depressed at the constant attempts in the states to suppress them. I like it here, but there are definitely pretty [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Girl 95% Burned Trying To Save Ill Mother   1 month, 1 week ago · View

This girl’s more of a man than I’ll ever be. I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same in the situation, but I couldn’t say I would for certain either. There’s not really a happy ending for her no matter what, unfortunately, and she really deserves one.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Zero no Tsukaima Author Noboru Yamaguchi Dies   1 month, 1 week ago · View

Despite the kinda generic universe ZnT had, I actually quite liked it. It was one of my first franchises with tsunderes and helped me build a love for that character type. It’s always a shame when someone passes, especially of something like cancer. I just hope his family is doing well and taken care of.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Million Arthur: “A New Low Even For Square Enix”   1 month, 2 weeks ago · View

Not quite true. Nintendo learned from the Wii–there may be more casual gamers, but they are ridiculously fickle and have short attention spans. Combine this with how crowded app stores are with games, and it makes more sense to keep most of their focus on the hardcore gamers, who ARE loyal and spend 20-30 times [...]

Way to completely ignore the Chrono series, the Seiken Densetsu series, Super Mario RPG, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics and lots of other games in your Enix fanboyism.

Enix wasn’t a crap company before, sure, but it was definitely Enix’s management after the merger who caused the problems SE has had since.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Square Enix CEO Resigns Over Colossal Losses   1 month, 3 weeks ago · View

I’ve got as many problems with this guy as the next person, but surprisingly the immediate problems weren’t due to FF or other JRPG series, but to well made well received games just not selling as well as they should have. Specifically, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider and Hitman Absolution all missed their sales targets despite [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Disgaea D2 “Worse Than Ever”   2 months ago · View

Grind (aka the poor man’s substitute for actual game content) does not a good game make. I agree that you don’t need great graphics to make a game, but if they’re charging full price (likely higher than we’d pay in the US here in Japan for a niche game like this) I expect that money [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Chinese Smog Chokes Japan   2 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Jeez, I’ve been wondering why it’s been so hazy here the past few days, and it’s this crap. It’s one thing for China to kill its own people with its pollution, but they need to keep their neighbors out of it.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Lone Father Dies Protecting Daughter From Blizzard   2 months, 2 weeks ago · View

This is heartbreaking. I really hope the daughter is able to get by okay after this. I had heard winters in Hokkaido were very bad but this is ridiculous. Still, not everywhere in Japan has had a cold winter. Here in Chubu it’s been unseasonably warm, which after reading this story I’m more thankful for [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Bicycle Skewers Boy by Anal Penetration   2 months, 3 weeks ago · View

I used to ride a used bike here in the backwater of Japan for a while, but I spent every second paranoid that something like this would happen. Thankfully, when my friend crashed it, it only cracked his rib rather than raped him. There’s Japanese craftsmanship for you.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Producer: AKB48 “Can Have As Much Sex As They Want”   2 months, 3 weeks ago · View

I’m not sure. Certainly, it could be bullshit, but if it is, I seriously doubt they’d have instituted a rule just for the hell of it. Rather, as he rightly says, these troubles are because of crazy obsessive fans. The producer, of course, is partly at fault for marketing to these fans, but they’re the [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Square Enix Back in the Red: “Expect Even More Remakes!”   3 months, 1 week ago · View

And Nippon Ichi is a well known Fortune 500 company of course. Or was it the other thing, a company barely anyone outside of some small niche (and a positively tiny one outside of Japan) has heard of. What works for one company won’t work for another, and certainly a big company like SE can’t [...]

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post China’s Skies More Beautiful Than Ever   3 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Damn it, I was enjoying the fresh mountain air here in Central Japan (which gets surprisingly rural when you get close to Takayama and Nagano) and now I gotta deal with this shit. As if the farmers burning their fields year round wasn’t bad enough for my lungs.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post Top 10 Hentai Bishoujo   3 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Upvoting this, it’s supposed to be Sena not Ayase. Go check the link and pop the kanji in google translate if you don’t believe me.

As far as the list goes, of course Kirino’s my number 1 but otherwise I’m okay with it.

  • SpideyPHL commented on the blog post AKB48′s Minami Minegishi’s Sex Shaving “Shamed Japan”   3 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Or, maybe those new pictures are because if someone never enjoyed themselves again after making (what crazy fans call) a mistake they never smile again, this would be even worse. Talk about it being extreme of her all you want, you can see in the responses in this and the original post about this that [...]
