The goth/emo thing reminds me so much of when I was into the punk scene and we all made fun of the ‘new wavers’ with their makeup and stupid hairstyles. Of course as punkers we didn’t care what anyone thought and tried to be as obnoxious as possible to all the ‘normals’. I just liked the slam dancing at live shows and punk girls who didn’t care who they had sex with with. Back when cutting yourself was cool because you were usually on some serious drugs and couldn’t feel it, not because you wanted to kill yourself. Being a punk was about living in freedom and proving your existence (usually by causing pain to others). Uppers, downers, booze, you name it we did it just to tell the world ‘fuck you!’. New Wavers came around and tried to get all emotional and serious. Then enter Madonna and it all fell to shit.

What goes around comes around I guess.
