ok, not really, but they've found something faster than the speed of light… add some relativity theory concepts on it and we have the whole time-space thing starting to get a little more complex

Einstien’s idea is that nothing with mass can go the exact speed of light. Everything that we know is slower than light, so that puts the upper limit of those at c. There is an idea tho that if there are things already (or created) that are faster than light, then c would be their lower limit. It would take more and more energy to slow them down, so you could get them close to c but never below it. C would be like a median that could never be crossed by FTL or STL particles.

If neutrinos turn out to be FTL, I thnk it would be cool, but probably not revolutionary. I don’t think that they could cary any kind of useful information, but they might fight into some of the gaps of the Dark Matter and Dark Energy theories.

I think the confusion is that the Korean Foaming Chicken stores use a similar mascot to the Kentucy Fried Chicken chain. Put an apron, beard, and mustache on Kim Il-Jong, and viola! No wonder the Chinese patrons confuse them.

Rumpelstiltskin left a big impression on me, because there were no redeeming characters at all. The father was a liar, the daughter was cowardly, the king was greedy, the dwarf was a pedo (I guess, I never really knew what he wanted with a human child), and the messenger was a cheater.

The fact that the story had a “happy” ending taught me a very interesting lesson, probably not one that the author intended ;)

I was looking for NSFW pics of Kagami Hiiragi, my first real anime crush. Eventually Google sent me here, and what I found was something much more :D

2 more: Quatum Mechanics.

There is so much randomness in the fabric of reality, that no one has to be afraid of being locked into anything. :)

This is a really strange case. One would assume that they did market research to see if the product had enough demand to be profitable. Someone dropped the ball though if they didn’t catch the negative backlash that they would also get.

I don’t really care about the “moral” aspect of the case per se. It is interesting tho that one segmant of the market decided that not only would they not buy them, but that they would not allow anyone else to buy them either. I find that kind of scarey.

1) The IRS
2) Moralfags
3) The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (that should be a conveience store, not a government agency)

These dolls really have a certain je ne sais quoi, an interesting mix midway between cute and sexy; some more in one direction, some more in the other ;) I guess that is the Moe factor, tho the term moe tends to get overused a lot these days. The louise doll totally captured my attention. [...]

I would not crossdress, but if there is reincarnation it could be interesting to come back as a girl. Then it would be fun to try all that stuff out. :)

• Raven posted on the forum topic Vigilantes   1 year, 6 months ago · View

The problem with any kind of justice is that sometimes they get it wrong (innocent people wrongly punished). The “official” justice systems have checks and balances in place to help minimize that, and sometimes a restitution process for when they do get it wrong. The society that it represents has a say in those checks and balances, so that mitigates it even further. Society collectively agrees on the risks.

The big weakness with vigilantes is that they are not accountable to anyone, not even to the society that they are trying to protect. Vigilantes are heroes until they make a mistake — then public opinion turns on them quickly and harshly. And once that happens then they are just seen the same as any other criminal organization.

In theory and in stories it is dashing and romantic. IRL it is messy, especially when mistakes are made and it starts coming apart.

In the good days, people who were hung up over stuff like this would just find a nice hermit cave to live in, and whip themselves on the back anytime they had “impure” thoughts.

It was win-win. They removed themselves from temptation, and society didn’t have to listen to them whining about stupid stuff anymore.

• Raven posted on the forum topic So, prostitution   1 year, 6 months ago · View

If Prostitution is limited as a business contract between two consenting adults and safety regulated like other jobs, then there is nothing wrong with it. If it were to be legalized, I would probably try it once, just to see what it was like. If was a fun experience, then maybe more than once.

As it is now, I would not try it for fear of being busted, and fear of STD.
