The “still” in the title is a bit misleading. I highly doubt people in the past cared a lot more about the world around them, there just were more or at least more obvious things that directly affected them. If we had war, famine or pestilence around us we would care a lot more too.

That being said, a lot of us simply live in circumstances where we have enough leisure time to think about philosophical matters, or at least in a bigger frame than just our own little world. But on the other side, we lack the power to actually make a noticeable difference, so most will adapt the stance of not caring because it is simpler, more convenient and saves energy for things close to you.

In line with this train of thought, society tells you to do exactly that. If you have dreams or ideals, you are a silly little kid and ought to grow up. If you have a pronounced opinion on certain matters, you are caring too much about unimportant stuff. And may god save your soul (not that I believe in god) if you have opinions that diverge from that of the majority. The responses I have gotten for that range from “you are thinking too much” to “people like you shouldn’t exist”. Needless to say, that is not the best environment for people who care. Mind you, I might be wrong. Maybe it gets better for adults. I highly doubt it though. To be fair, I barely cared enough to actually post here myself.

Title should probably somehow point out that this is about the anime (apparently), so spoilers from those who have read the Light Novels aren’t wanted.

Agreed, it certainly looks like it will live up to the expectations. Now I kind of regret having read the Light Novels already.

DotA is the past and the future. HoN is now getting a minor user boost from people who want to switch from LoL to DotA or are new to the genre altogether and don’t want to play around with WC3, but once DotA2 is out it will be dead. The people who switched to HoN did it because of the graphics and the interface, so they will mostly switch back.

They are just worse at not getting caught.
