No, Windows 8 is actually really light. So light that booting it up barely takes upwards of 10 seconds. (Mileage may vary. Compared to my boot time for 7 which is around 30 seconds).

I’m not saying Windows 8 is any good but I don’t see the sense in drawing conclusions when the OS has taken radical changes. Surely you need more than a day to get used to it before you can give an opinion.
