Anywhoo… if i had the money to spend on a 980x i would not really have other options because i would rather just use that to buy the fastest LGA 1356 proc when it comes out because i am planning to buy the fastest singke gpu solution available at that point in time anyway…

Unless AMD can really provide a decent “enthusiast” class CPU, I doubt that I would move to the other side any time soon… since the successor to the current range of Phenom IIs are only goind to be replaced by a cpu that is essentially a ver. 2 of the K10 structure…

Which basically means I doubt that it can really offer “revolutionary” performance.

The only function that can sway my choice would be low power computing or an HTPC… because AMD can potentially offer a cheaper and as efficient alternative since it did buy ATi and thus should be able to make chips with decent graphics capabilities that would lead to lower power consumption like the 2nd generation Core i5 and i7. Which is practically what people would only need if they are just surfing the net…

Although I am planning to build a new rig based around these specs around the end of the year or maybe just updating the currunt one

The fastest single gpu solution at the point of pirchanse… can be AMD or nVidia but waiting for 7xxx series to be launched…
And a suitable psu that would fit in the case… thinking of getting seasonic's

Although I am also thinking of other purchases like speakers, headsets, monitors…thinking of Dell's U2711 as an option…

Although meh thinks that you should have bought your ram in stics of ram in threes like I did and not as twos like you did
so x58 chipset would naturally run with triple-channel so configs of 3, 6, 12Gb would work… depending on the motherboard you may be able to double the amount

Also i think your graphix card is underpowered relative to your processor… is it a core i7 950?
