I would say it's because sperm isn't capable of developing into a human being on its own. Abortion involves killing off a differentiating mass of cells that could've become a person after nine months.

That being said, I'm both pro-choice and pro-life, i.e. I wouldn't ask a woman I knocked up to get an abortion, but have no problem if other women choose it as an option. My only caveat is that you think things through before going through with it. Don't come back whining in 20 years because you can't live with the decision you made like that "Roe vs. Wade" woman.

Not true in my case. My ex-girlfriend had had quite a few partners before we hooked up while I was relatively inexperienced. She didn't judge me, so I didn't judge her. What matters was that she was sleeping with me and only me at that point. :D
