The mysterious “base system device”. Two of them are listed in device manager and windows 7 keeps wanting to install the wrong wireless lan drivers. They work… mostly. My laptop has an atheros wireless lan adapter and a realtek wired lan adapter. Windows 7 keeps insisting that its a realtek wireless adapter as well. Its odd because in the Windows 7 beta and RC everything worked correctly without any issues. I’ve just been putting up with it since the launch of 7.

In windows architecture usually means 32bit x86 or 64bit x86.

If all else fails install ubuntu on it I think you’ll find that you’ll like it.

Actually, Ubuntu is on my desktop. I’m downgrading my laptop from 7 to Vista. 7 doesn’t like me using Vista’s drivers for stuff that doesn’t have drivers in 7. Which is a pity because I like 7 more.
