Nothing wrong with sketching, just make sure you add in some practice in there (like anatomy or landscape)

What I really like is that you're actually drawing Samus in her Power Suit. Everyone's always drawing her Zero Suit, but drawing mecha is a real challenge (and very rewarding, if the single time I drew mecha is anything to go by). Please post here again when you've finished. I'm interested.

Yea I know what you mean, when I googled samus for reference, 80% of the results were her in her zero suit (with giant hips and tits).
A lot of people forget that samus was a cool, bad ass antagonist, before fan artist turned her into another 'tomb raider'. (not that I'm really complaining :3 )

Sounds awesome, you could also have the computer screen reflecting in her eyes, though that might be over doing it.
Speaking of dark rooms with cool tones and colors, here is a rough Samus picture I'm working on, which I'm planning on coloring in a similar way you just mentioned.

That looks great; the only real anatomical problems are her feet are too small, her breasts are too high, and the right eye is slightly misplaced. I don't know what you're doing with the background, but the red circle really throws off the composition at the moment. Also I would move the girl over to the right a bit.

Thanks,I’ll work on the chest and feet, Not sure what you mean with the eyes though, they look fine with me (I’m not trying to sound like uptight dick when I say that).
The background is suppose to be planets/ space, so maybe If i added a ring to one of them it might make more sense,and I guess I could darken/ add some blue to the red planet to make it stand out less.

That’s looking great, I can’t see any problems with the line art.
When you color it, are you planning on making it a dark room with the computer screen being the only light source? because I think that would look cool (in my opinion anyways).

Same here, praise is great and all, but too much of it can make an artist over confident, and stubborn when someone points out a error or says something negative about a piece. It's the critiques that really help improve an artist. (not that there is anything wrong with a bit of priase along with a critique, to help boost self confidence ( nothing worse that a artist without any confidince))

What Im saying is a artist needs a healthy balance of critique and praise.
Too much praise and you get a bloated over confident ass who thinks his inyuasha drawing is the shit.
Too little praise and mistakes always being pointed out, and you get a timid little artist who is to scared to show anyone his work
