  1. So, I recently ordered this Hatsune Miku SEGA figure on ebay.

It got here today (from China - Should've seen this coming). The packaging is a dark green plastic bag covered in tape, inside is 1 layer of bubble wrap and a terribly beaten up original packaging (Was listed as "In great condition", guess shipping had something to say about that). Inside the box I find a similar figure with a completely different paint job (don't really like it). The hair pieces look like they were glued in at one point but removed, and the pegs for the feet don't fit in the stand at all.

So my question is, does anyone even know what this is? Is it a fake? Different paint job? Any clues would be appreciated.

Check the paintjob on the fingernails. Where's my teal?!

  2. Yeah, most likely a bootleg/knockoff. Hope you didn't get too ripped off.

Maybe others with Ebay experiance can tell you if you can file a complaint and get money back.

  3. The seller literally changed the item description a day or two before it arrived, so I'm filing a complaint. The images from before: The quality on this figure is just terrible.

Google images brought up a cache image of the seller's display from when I purchased it.

  4. Ouch, it looks like you totally got shafted with some shitty chinese knockoff. I'd do what Taiga suggested and look in to getting your money back.

All right, that's what I figured. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy and got some kind of... Different edition figure... (Quality was too shit for that to be possible anyway).

The seller is online too, let's see how this goes.

  7. $30. I was skeptical at first, but there were a couple listings for it, and there were several images up that matched the real version that I was looking for. And by several listings, I mean I've seen other buyers with the same figure in the $35-$50 range.

    -sigh-

Well i mean either you got a terribly made other model or its a bad knockoff. Wrong color shirt, wrong color fingernails, different hair features, even the pose is off, etc.

Total bullshit that the seller changed the info after you bought it.

  9. I guess it was this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/SEGA-Vocaloid-Hatsune-Miku-10-Figure-01-New-Box-/190448358766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c579b556e

it costs 27 USD - when you compare it with the higher prices - they cost 60 USD
Compare it to the prices of Miku plushies: original 60-100 USD, China 10 USD

Guess I shouldn't have been so quick to jump on it (Very little ebay experience). To be fair, the seller did change the photos 2-3 days ago to the "Fake Edition".

Oh, and just for kicks... This is the condition of the box when it arrived at my house. Remember, it was shipped internationally with only 1 layer of bubble wrap:

  11. Yup, definitely a bootleg. Check here to see some shots of the bootleg. Just scroll down and click on "view bootleg shots".

Would you mind sharing with us how much you paid for it, and who the seller you bought from is? You contactd Ebay's resolution center right? Filing through ebay is easier and faster than filing through paypal.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

    Link to the seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/SEGA-Vocaloid-Hatsune-Miku-10-Figure-01-New-Box-/190448358766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c579b556e

    Paid: $26.99

As I said before, it was originally stated to be the version that wasn't bootlegged, and I have contacted the seller about the mismatch between the item and the previous description only to receive:

"i have no choice to change the picture because i can not find the figure as the same before."

So, I'm going to continue talking to the seller and elevate it if they won't refund me.

  14. Uhg... man eBay is such a pain in the ass sometimes. Well i should say the sellers are. You really have to be wary of buying anything, especially if its origin is china. We've all probably been there at one point in time though. I ordered some dvds from a seller who had posted a picture of the official boxset in the item listing, I get it and its totally different... and after further inspection its of course, a bootleg. X_X

eBay does however, do a decent job at least of refunding your money and shutting down shitty ebayers if they continue to show bad qualities. At least in my experience. Definitely talk to the seller and if they don't want to refund your money, file a claim.

  15. So here's their reply. $20 refund, I get to keep the item. Considering shipping would be a pain in the ass and it would take 2 weeks for it to get back to the seller to process the refund... It's probably worth it, right? This actually is a pretty generous response considering.

    "hello,

    thank you for your information

would you mind if i refund $20.00 to you for this case? because i have no figure as before to send replacement.

and i think it wastes both time and money if you send it back.

    what do you think?

    best wishes,

Honestly, you have the right to get a complete refund but its up to you. Being out 6 and some change is better than almost 30. :D

As per eBay policy, I would have to ship the item back and they have to confirm receiving it before they have to give me a full refund. So that would mean waiting another 2 weeks for it to ship back to China before I get my money, and I would have to pay shipping. I guarantee shipping will cost more than $6.00.

So if I just consider $6 as the payment for wasted time and a cheap figure, not so bad?

  19. If you can live with it, then why not.
If she looks somehow decent...6 USD is better than 60 USD.

Think about this way: now you can buy another figure :)

Then sell it to a friend for $15. Profit off your failures.
