    Wait, since when were the 90's considered retro? I don't wanna feel old yet ;-;

    Games age faster.

    But I'd only consider SNES and earlier to be properly retro.

    Cell phones go obsolete even faster.
    A cell phone from 1998 when Nokia was king it seems so damn primative today.

    Though Moore's law really has started to peter out recently esp in desktop computers.

    A good example a computer from 1998 was a tremendous and vast improvement over one from 1990 so much so what was a main CPU in 1990 became something you'd see in a peripheral but the advancements between 2004 to 2012 not so much.
    It's mostly been just adding more cores and memory but nothing ground breaking has occurred.
    Well except for GPGPU processing becoming common but the bacis of this actually dates back to the 90s and use of DSPs in some Macs and Next machines.
    Though maybe it's that x86-64 is starting to feel it's age and maybe the architecture needs to be retired for something RISC based.
    Plus Microsoft can't write efficient code to save their lives.

  7. The LINC computer probably the first computer where a single person interacted directly with it vs submitting jobs on punched cards to system being locked away in a computer room guarded by technicians.
    It could be argued as the first personal computer.
    You could say it's the great grand daddy of the work stations and personal computers that came later in the 1970s and 80s.
