An interesting video about FFXIV fatigue system

  1. After seeing this it kind of make sense and I can see what they wanted to do with it, but it’s still stupid damn it you should be able to level when you want.

  2. gota say that makes sense although if it isn't around 40 hours a week it's still too much for normal people.

  3. When I first read this I kinda thought it was about preventing people from playing too long, dying because of it (like some idiots) and blaming the game.
I still don't feel too well about this. Even with college and such, I still have plenty of time to waste, and if I were paying for a game I'd want to be able to get as much out of it as I can, not be limited so casual players can catch up. They should at least have a way to reward people that level fast, like give them special instances or bonus to currency after the limit is reached.
Another thing I thought of is maybe they just didn't finish the game and don't want people to reach the end just yet >.>

  4. 1. it's not revolutionary - they could make this years ago - were just too lazy to think about the realization
    2. the realization is not good

I like the comments at the end of the vid - all true :)

You mean the pop-up ones? LOL~

Good intentions are one thing. Arbitrary limits designed to punish players who invest more time in the game are another.

I had enough of Square's arbitrary limits playing Tactics Advance. Law cards were another system that was apparently supposed to encourage variety or some shit, but just ended up being annoying as hell.

This looks like it's just a red herring for a system that still nobody will like.

Actually, was it really such a problem that people with a lot of time levelled up faster? Perhaps they shouldn't have mentioned the thing about a steep EXP curve being a goldmine for the developers, because it'll make people realize that the fatigue system is exactly the same.

It's like giving a milk carton a different look, and not changing the amount of milk in it, but still charging an extra ten cents for it.

Yet if you drink the milk too fast then a special chamber opens at the bottom and it all drains out, then you have to fill out a customer service form to get more milk in 3-5 business days.

  8. They just want evenly milk all players :)
"It will take 2 years to level up, that's how other MMORPGs keep their subscription" - lol, how desperate they must be.

  9. It'd suit me since I wouldn't be playing upteen hours a day on a game. However, the copy paste style of level design turned me off, plus I lack a job so it's either free Korean MMOs or going outside and fight armadillos at a nearby park.
