Unfortunately, you didn't say what game you were talking about.
I did like ages ago, I don't bring it up often, because I'm not one of those "I r making a game and I'm gonna post thrice a day about it for a week and never finish" people.
IDK, it's just hard deliberating with myself. There are so many viable options that I have trouble picking one specific thing at a time.

Should the entire game be based on a 1-die system, or polyhedral sets?
I really like dice, so I prefer polyhedral sets, however I feel that most people would be detoured by the idea.
tl;dr number cubes or dice?
Also, would a percentile system be better that a D6 system if a single die is used?
Usually when I 'knuckle down' and get work 'done', I end up trying to answer questions like these.
EDIT: The rules I currently have written up are based on the d12... a one die system, but the die is not commonplace, I've been meaning to change that for months now.
