  1. The heat of the day is getting to me. At 4:30 this afternoon it's 96 degrees on my back porch. I have to do something.

I have part of the answer, a half full bottle of root beer in my refrigerator. A trip to the store supplies the rest, an extra bottle of root beer and a 5 quart (so I don't, you know, run out) tub of vanilla ice cream. When I get home I put the root beer in the refrigerator and the ice cream in the freezer.

I eat the two spicy chicken sandwiches I got at Carl's Jr., drizzling them with a little ranch dressing. I soon eat my last bite, finishing my tea and lemonade as well. The time is almost right, but not just yet.

I watch a little television, sitting in front of the fan. I get up and feed my animals. I look at the clock and think "Now!"

I set a tall glass on the counter, alongside it the ice cream scoop and a long spoon. I take the ice cream out of the freezer and open the tub. I can almost smell the vanilla. I scoop out one scoop of ice cream and put it in the glass, followed by a second and then a final third. I take the root beer out of the refrigerator and slowly open it. The bottle makes a soft "pssssssst" as the pressure inside equalizes. I slowly pour the root beer into the glass. It foams up, almost running over. I quickly sip the foam so it doesn't, getting a preview of the taste to come.

Finally the glass is full. I take a sip, tasting the cold creaminess of the ice cream with the sharp (shall I say spicy?) bite of the root beer. I hold it in my mouth, savoring the flavors, then slowly swallow. It's followed by a second, then a third. I then take my spoon, and spoon out a little ice cream. I put it in my mouth, feeling the cold slickness of the ice cream with the slight crunchiness of tiny ice crystals frozen out of the root beer onto the ice cream. It tastes good as I swallow it.

I slowly continue, a sip or two, followed by a spoon or two. But, all too quickly, only a small dab of ice cream remains. I upend the glass over my mouth, catching the last, delicious drops.

The root beer float is finished, but it's done it's job. It has cooled me down for today.

But, there's always the heat of tomorrow.

I like this line. It didn't make me hungry.

    I thank you both.

Ichi asked (i.e. demanded) that I share after my earlier post. Although it's impossible to give everyone a physical root beer float, I hope I gave you the "feel" of one.

It kinda worked. The curry was getting to me [my nose actually. ow], not to mention it's quite hot today as well.

Thanks too Ichi for having him make a write up. Hehe.

  7. Went to Pizza Hut for breakfast/lunch, which was rather disappointing. When we left, we were originally planning to find a pancake place, but for some reason we didn't go to one. I'm not a big fan of Pizza Hut, so I didn't really enjoy the food. Though, our waiter was super nice to us (he was from PA, as well).

    You're dead to me.

Well, I guess its a regional thing, since I've had really bad pizza at some pizza huts.

  11. Tonight I ate at Tequila Mockingbird. I saw this place on imgur a while ago, but I didn't know it was here until Aneko mentioned it yesterday on skype. It's a Mexican restaurant, but I don't like Mexican food, so I had a burger for the third night in a row. This burger was better than last night's, but still not as good as the night before.

AW CMON. WHAT THE FUCK IS THE MATTER WITH YOU. Mexican food is good! You just got to try everything until you find something you love.

Next you're going to say you hate Italian style pizza! AND VEGIO WILL REIGN HIS WRATH UPON YOU.

I've never had Italian pizza, but if I didn't like it, then I wouldn't be stupid enough to admit that here.

  17. Sigh, I guess Mexican food isn't the same everywhere as it is in the highly hispanic cities I live in. We actually have stuff that will knock you out with flavor.

Not just that. Not a fan of:

    Beans
    Tacos
    The flavors
    Sour cream
    Spicy food
    Burritos
    Salsa
    Avacados sometimes

Most things having to do with the food.
