  1. Took a break from PSO2 and SSFIV to play... or read? White Album 2. Didn't play the first, but I think they are unrelated.

Been a long time since I last took an eroge's storyline seriously, and MAN, when I said 'serious' I meant it; protagonist Haruki is a mess. From the outside, he'd look like an outstanding, hardworking 3rd year undergrad with part time jobs left and right. Inside though he is one confused, cruel, misunderstood, misunderstanding, somewhat fucked up young man.

He was supposed to be in a relationship with this slut Setsuna and both of them formed a band with this musical prodigy Kazusa who is also Setsuna's best friend when they were in high school, with the plot twist that Haruki somehow ended up fucking Kazusa when Setsuna's not looking(skipped through intro chapter so still shady on details). After 3 years, the fucker kept on dragging himself with Setsuna, always giving the cold shoulder to her and avoid meeting her despite acting to everyone else that their relationship is still going(poor Takeya). Meanwhile Setsuna is gradually falling into depression, blaming Haruki's change into a cold son of a bitch on herself. The real part of the game begins around this time.

For now, I'm going through Chiaki's route, because I'm not yet in the mood to explore Haruki's high school history. She fits into the 'almost bro-like' archtype; the kind of woman you're really frank with and didn't really see as a woman(think Kaoru from Amagami). Her character herself is fun to go through for me, but the real spoiler is that they picked the worst voice actress out of the main 5 for her. While the other 4 heroines have voice actresses who used their natural voice which made them sound more convincing, Chiaki sounded like a woman with sore throat. Her voice actress just doesn't have that 'younger woman' pitch, and the way she spoke in the VA afterword somewhat implied that she herself wasn't comfortable with faking it either.

Oh, and I came upon this game because I remember seeing someone mentioned it here. Anyone else playing this shit?

I've only played through Chiaki's route so I'm not fit for a fully encompassing judgement, but what I have read through so far was good enough for me. The thing though, is that her route is supposed to be the least emotionally engaging of the 5 - which is, according to 2ch is at least a wide margin.

Of course, Haruki still occasionally expresses hatred for his own pathetic self("A fucker like me doesn't deserve anyone's love"... blablabla) in his internal monologues but Chiaki's mostly accomodating and wait-and-see approach to their relationship makes it quite a light experience. It doesn't help the fact that their banters are fun and humorous, much like Kaoru from Amagami.

If you're still in college or equally leisure life with plenty of time, you'll burn through them real quick with this game provided you read every sentence, and you need to do that to understand the story - and Haruki - completely. My play through Chiaki's route WITHOUT the intro chapter was close to 9 hours, almost as much as a typical Japanese drama series(and with as much drama). Subsequent plays with Koharu and Mari may be a bit shorter because they lack correlation to Haruki's past and I can just skip text I already know, but Kazusa's and Setsuna's route will be longer suckers because theirs go way back from Intro chapter.

Also, Hitomi Nabatame and Yuu Asakawa are both in this game as Kazusa and Mari respectively. Asakawa might have been heard in new porn games and anime every now and then, but Nabatame hadn't done any in years. If you haven't heard how mainstream seiyuus feign orgasm and cries of sexual pleasure yet, now's your chance. lol

EDIT: I just learned. Setsuna is Ui from K-ON!(Madoka Yonezawa). lolololol

  6. Just played through the first act of Diablo 3 with Homu, Lens, and Affuu. It was so much quicker to get through it with a full party than it was to get through it on my own.

I named my new barbarian character MrCuddles (SirCuddlesworth was unfortunately too long).

More people should have played this game. It was a really challenging game and had a pretty unique story imo.

Among reasons why I hate consoles this gen.

Companies abuse the ability to patch games so much that they prefer the release-first-patch-later approach.

Consoles are also increasingly becoming too complex for their own good. They want to sell to us with the cheapest components available, yet they put in all these complicated features that are trying to turn them into mediocre PCs that puts burden on them, making them susceptible to damage after a year(360 being the worst offender). Worse part is that the makers will continue to push through this regardless; M$ has already made known of their intention to turn XBoxes into the 'home media center' that does so much more than games, and Sony has also began to quietly acquire some small companies that provide many aspects of that.

I was only able to drive before the disk gave out. It wasn't even a race.
I'm going to return the game. Hopefully next time this wont happen.

I have to thank Mai for reminding me it existed. I think my favorite part is the combo system . It's just so much fun.

  20. PSP:
Phantom Brave: Just defeated the strongest extra boss in the game. In the PS2 version it was only up to Pringer X, but now they added Pringer XX and a last battle againts Pringer XXX plus the previous ones. Even after creating a really powerful material to fuse with my main weapon I had a lot of trouble defeating him.
Now all that is left is clearing the "another Marone" scenario.

    PC:
Recettear: Already quite far in post-game, and around the first floors of the Lapis Ruins. Nagi is probably my favorite adventurer.
I'm not sure when I will be finishing it though, because I'm reeeeeally hooked with another game...

Fallout 3: finally... FINALLY I could buy a powerful video card for my pc! It's the first time that I'm playing a game that requires a lot in the grafical area (and not playing it with the lowest details possible like I did with Skyrim).
And oh my, did I love this game!
