Latest Purchase OTAKU

  1. @Lucifer: I've been searching for the kotone ousaka by Native for the past couple days. Checked all my usual stores. I think you'll have to go with ebay.

This GK of Rei/Yoko is gorgeous. There's also a Asuka/Yoko version as well. So I'm tempted to buying this GK to pair up with my Asuka. Now to debate whether I should buy the cast so I can paint it myself or the pre-painted.

2 questions. Have you built a GK before? Is it hard?
Do you know where I could find prepainted GKs? I saw that hobbyfan sells GKs. But of course I'm not confident in my ability to make it nice.

In case someone's interested, hlj is having a 50% off shipping sale.

I don't remember if there was a wishlist for collecting figures, but if there was, these would be on the top.

The lina plus hasn't been released yet. It's still in the planning phases.

Lina pvc figure by Volks has a planned release for around $100. Seen at wonfes.

Yeah, I've looked everywhere also in all online retailers, but I came with nothing. Seems like ebay is my only option. I'm a smart shopper though, so I know whom to buy and not get ripped off. Thanks anyways Motaku for even looking. ^^

I have painted GKs before. It's a very long process but not too unfamiliar like building a Gundam. You just need to know what you're doing. I use a airbrush gun to paint rather than using a brush tool, I hate to see the streak lines as I paint, also It's what professional use. I'll provide you with this link to get a better idea of the steps: http://codyscoop.com/howto.html
But if you don't feel confident on your painting. Than you can browse on this site, I usually buy from them when I feel lazy and don't like to paint. http://www.e2046.com/
    They also have the Rei/Yoko pre-painted I want: http://www.e2046.com/product.php?products_id=11976

I think I'll post pictures later of a finished GK I worked sometime ago of Sailor Saturn. :)

  4. If you're getting brush-strokes in your painting job, than you probably need thinner coats, or less paint per application. Airbrush can definitely save you time, though.

For fine details, you're going to need the brush, though.

I really recommend Citadel paints, though. They're water-based, look great, provide a solid finish, have lots of variety (including metallics, gloss, etc...), and I LOVE the inks/washes.

I got hooked on 'em from Warhammer 40K models, and have been using them on Gundams, Armoured Core, and the like as well.

I saw some GK on sale while I was in Tokyo, but I didn't have room in my luggage. ;;_;; I'd love to pick some up when I have the free time to paint them.

Mannn, I'm so envious of you people. I can't wait until I have a good income and a credit card. The suspense of awaiting your deliveries, and the sheer joy of unpacking them- I WANT TO KNOW THOSE EXPERIENCES! The day I place my first order shall be a joyous one indeed.

It doesn't sound like a lot to work with, especially so if there's bills to pay on top of that. $110 dollars in Canada could be earned by doing a fourteen hour work week, as comparison.
On the flipside, it's a lot of work he's doing manually; so good for you, Sorrior. C:

  11. < I don't have a good income either. $10/hour. About $150~ earnings a week. But I don't pay bills so I can spend it on what I want. When I do start paying bills, I'll obviously have to curb my spendings.

Oh and thanks for the GK tips. If I come across a GK only figure, I'll give it a try. Until then, I'll stick with the usual.

  12. Orz...I found kotone at palet web. Price probably isn't much better than ebay. Feel free to check it. You might have to login.

Sweet, I thank you Motaku for going out of your way for looking. The price is a bit too much however, but I'll reconsider if I can't find a better bargain on ebay before I make any hesitating decision. :)

  14. My Seena figure came in the mail today. She's the first figure that I purchased where I don't really know the backstory of the character. Haven't played shining wind. I just fell in love with it when I saw her in the article. The box art is very reminiscent of the bubble filter. I wonder if that was intentional.

Sorry for the horrible quality pictures. Don't have the camera on me today, so I had to use the built in webcam on my laptop. Since I quite like this figure, I might do a full review of it on my blog in the future. I wanna try out the new photo taking tricks I learned.

  17. ^ You painted that? Very nicely done. Is there a paint color called "milky loli skin"? Or do you have to mix to get the right color?

LOL, There's actually a skin color already made. But you blend a little white to get that milky loli skin. :P

  19. My Native Shoujo S came recently, I'm very fond of this figure since It's based on Naruko Hanaharu illustration, which can be seen on the channel. The figure looks packaged elegantly. The figure itself, It's well detailed.

  20. That figure looks awesome.

I myself am waiting for some awesome mousepads (see that other thread on here) to arrive, and the 39's Giving Day DVD to be released.
