    With your current art level you're not going to be able to change their minds. It's a very bland anime style that one could find thousands of similar style at Comic Market. If you want to show that non-Japanese can make manga then study how Felipe Smith managed to get serialized in Japan.

    that's one thing I'm worried about. the way I draw isn't very unique or anything. There certainly certain ways i like to draw things but nothing really stands out as being different.

    Stop drawing anime style for awhile and experiment. Try different things.

    well it's not the only thin I've drawn. here's another comic thing i've been drawing. or rather re-drawing. But maybe you're right.

    i don't really have too much of a problem with that. I know my art isn't really unique and even if i were to deviate more away from the anime style, my art would still be heavily influence. I mean it's the style i've drawn sine i was a kid watching dbz. so I know whatever i do is going to be associated with anime.

    You can be heavily influenced by something and still not copy it exactly. I learned how to draw largely from anime, and I did give everyone poofy hair and giant eyes, but over time I learned more about anatomy, tried different styles, and I started infusing those things in my own work. I was still experimenting a bit with this.

    Now Mere has made me self-conscious about the pants. :Y

    Dan, this is an artists I'm a big fan of. You could try mixing his style it if you want. Here's a few examples.

    ya know, i really don't have any non-anime artists that i'm a huge fan of. :/ that could be part of my problem when it comes to thinking outside the box. I could start drawing a little from life. and maybe apply stuff i learn from that.

    I'll try not to get to realistic though. or it might end up like his.

    and while this may be okay for something more serious, it doesn't have a place in something as light hearted and ridiculous as i'm planning.

    as far as the aesthetic of my comic goes, i do. not that my current skill level actually gives the ability to draw that realistically.
