  1. I was thinking about one of my sci-fi worlds; About how humans might defended themselves before they had chemical weapons and gunpowder.

Mankind is not however a creature of natural weapons. In our bodies their is no great weapon hidden, It is within our minds that we find our truest strength. Through our curiosity we learn the secrets of the claws we don't have, and from the earth around us we are able to craft ourselves means of cheating death that are unintended by nature. Enter the Ceremony.

The vanguards of man take within themselves the disease of their enemy and bind it to their flesh through their scars. The men become Pariah; beasts no longer able to live in the world of men yet crucial to humanity's survival.

Aesthetically this was partially inspired by Diablo 3, admittedly, but the story wasn't ripped off of anything in particular. It only sounds like it was because it's generic genre fodder.

I more or less want to use it fore speech bubbles and layouts, but i'm not sure how much pre rendered stuff it uses. I know there's a lot of peoplee's mangas that end up looking kinda samey when they use it.

    Nice, Pikka.
Damn, if I'd known about Draw Mohammed Day (I only just looked it up), I would've drawn a moe girl version of Mohammed.

  10. I think I remember somebody asking why competent artists always try to belittle themselves; and by happenstance I stumbled on the answer.

People really should have more faith in themselves! Seriously!

I've never really thought the Dunning-Kruger effect has anything to do with it. They're just afraid of the social stigma against admitting your own awesomeness. I'm not kidding.

I hate that you need to play with the "oh I'm not that great", instead of saying "yeah, I'm just awesome like that".

That could well be a factor they're missing! I wouldn't doubt it!

You don't need to. I, for one, think I'm pretty great.

Just trying to be realistic here.

As a hobby artist yeah you are great.

But when put to comparison to the various professional artists that make a living of the stuff none of us here are even close to their level T_T

Why compare art hobbyists to professionals? That certainly doesn't strike me as realistic.
