Damn! Gambino on violin sounds awesome. The first thing I noticed was his shirt. I used love "The Hundreds" but I haven't been impressed with what they have been releasing the past few years. I still have my striped "Adam Bomb" fitted from 07 though :D

But they can't travel across the galaxy. If you have a ship light that, then runway lights are 100% useless.

Actually the ship used to travel across the galaxy probably would be something that never lands as it likely would be enormous think the star ship Enterprise and the things you'd see flying around are just the landing craft.
You wouldn't necessarily need a runway or prepared landing site if the vehicles have VTOL capability but if you made many visits to a location you may want to construct one to avoid damage to the landing craft.
