I pity those who miss out Aria. These kind of anime is virtually non-existence nowadays and i do not see how these genre could be revived anytime soon.

They come around so rarely that I usually have to look up the term again, iyashikei. Tamayura is the most recent one that I've seen.

  6. My friends and I are going to make a pirate evening tonight.
Treasure Island, One Piece - Strong World and PotC - On stranger Tides, accompanied by rum and fat food.

I watched Tamayura too, it has the slow pace, the fuwa fuwa atmosphere, i guess its the closest one trying to compete with Aria. I thoroughly enjoy the show, as you would expect from Junichi Satou, the only last remnant of anime director that avoid otaku demand and doing what he wanted to.

Too bad, something about his last two work (Tamayura and Ikoku Meiro no Croisée) is lack of...that's the BGM. No matter how good he build up the atmosphere, but if it were not accompanied by the right track, it will just miss the impact. Just like Johnny Depp to Tim Burton. Junichi Satou NEED Choro Club to be his main sound composer and Makino Yui to be singer for the theme song.

And it's funny how other slice-of-life anime claim themselves to fall under iyashikei sub-genre when it has big "moe-blob" stamp all over it (K-On, Hidamari Sketch and the rest of it). The only Iyashikei anime that i truly approve are: Aria, Sketchbook and Tamayura.

  13. Despite considering myself a Ryu mainer, Juri is the only character I ever got to top 20 on a character's North American leaderboard in SSFIV, though that's probably because most people aren't prepared to fight a decent Juri online compared to whole armies of Ryu and Ken users. As such, this video was relevant to my interest.

Man... that was pathetic. Even Asami Imai could pull off Kaisen Dankairaku(though starting out with flowchart Ken to destroy a noob was a dick move on her part).

I know I shouldn't expect voice actresses to be able to play the characters they voiced as good as a regular gamer would, but I had a small amount of expectations at first because Eri Kitamura IS a gamer. Oh well, whatever games she played, I guess she's not into fighting games.

  17. Those Tumblr vids are the only things I like DerpyDash in. I can't stand her voice any other time I hear it.

*Sniff* God bless that shota! He'll end the recession!

Video should be called "My Little Entrepreneur: Capitalism is Magic!"

But I did wonder why the bald father was talking about when he said that the arcade kept the kid "out of his hair".
