      MacOS has no activation so you can upgrade it for free if you want.
      So far Apple has stuck with the honor system with it's users.

      Though yes they have a been bad about making hardware obsolete before it's time.
      Mountain lion often needs hacks to make it run on some older systems even though they're perfectly capable of doing so.

      It's nothing new the old Beige G3 macs were were not supported when Panther and then Tiger came out but were perfectly capable of running it with a few hacks.

      One thing I hate is those crappy floor furnaces and wall heaters in some homes.
      There is no excuse to have these anymore though the ones in the floor were a stupid ass idea even when they first came out.
      Seriously those fire hazards should have been banned by now.
      It's not that hard nor all that expensive to upgrade to a proper central heat air system or one of those ductless heat pump setups and do away with those fire hazards.
      The upgraded heating system will probably pay for it's self in one winter.
