On a whim I decided to go to Nickelodeon, but I forgot I had to be buzzed through the gate. The security guard asked who I was, and I told him my name and said I was there to see about a position as a story artist. He asked who I was meeting.
"Uh... sorry, I'm so bad with names, hang on," I responded, and scrambled to pull out my laptop and look at a list of employees. I said the first name I saw: the vice president. To my surprise, the guard let me in.
He said the VP was in a meeting, so I waited at the reception desk for half an hour. Finally, he got a call and handed me the phone.
It was the VP's assistant, who said she's very busy and they don't accept walk-ins. I gave him my contact info and told him I'm here for a month, so we can set up an actual meeting soon. The guard then very politely asked me to leave, so I did; he didn't even follow me to make sure. Overall strange experience, and I got much farther than I had any right to.
