The directions on the heat tape package said "do not wrap around pipe" and "do not use on drain pipe."
I have 30ft of heat tape wrapped around two feet of four inch drain pipe.
If this doesn't thaw the bitch out I'm just cutting the whole thing off with the reciprocating saw and taking my drill to whatever ice remains inside. I'm tired of having water backed up in my bathtub and having a toilet that won't drain.

How cold is it there?

The toilet flange sagged because the floor is shot so water ran all over the tee joint where the bathroom sink and bathtub drain into the main line with the toilet. It the pipe isn't quite water tight, so water leaked into it as it built up in a pillar around the pipes. Once it choked up the drain the standing water froze further and further up the drains.
It was ten below this morning. The cold temps are why the drains haven't cleared on their own after I cleared the ice from the flange and tightened it back up.
