What do you do?

  1. I'm interested in what other Sankaku-ers do with themselves besides like anime/manga/games.
Do you work? Are you a student? (If so, what's your major?) A NEET? A bum leeching someone's wifi?

I'm an english teacher (in japan), actually.

  2. You're the second with that occupation here. I'm currently in the limbo between high school and university.

  3. Whoever the first was, I imagine we're not the only two.
Good luck with your studies! What are you planning to major in?

  5. Huh, guess i shouldnt depend on the search function that much. This thread is for both jobs and school/college/university though, although if its unnecessary thats ok too.

    No, thats quite (alright)....

There's 2 search options, though one functions correctly, so no worries...

Its a (respectful) thing to do, which is to wait (in some cases), then proceed with a consensus of the majority, and I do like the approach of it all, so its more diverse.

I'm in the same line of work. I teach English to Japanese students, but through an online service.

It's more like a one-on-one Juku of sorts.

Primary school, Secondary school, Sixth Form/College, University.

You usually start Sixth Form/college at 16 and then finish at 17/18 (if you are doing A-levels)
You can start college at any age but you would have to pay if you're older that 20 or something.

Although so you can work out the differences between the two. Colleges are normally aimed at specialised education (one subject, in depth equivalent to more than one GCSE or A-level) or vocational skills (apprenticeships)rather than the multiple, broader a-levels that 6th forms do. Although Amy goes to one that is regarded as a "6th form college" that offer A-level courses as well as the typical shit.

At an operational side they are also a non-profit business rather than a public institution like schools and 6th form.

  15. Teacher Assistant in Special Education, currently working in a transitional program with students 18-22 with autism, down, mental retardation and cerebral palsy (some high function, some high needs) and we get them ready to be independent productive members of society (within their capacity). Some get jobs and/or get placed in assisted living facilities, while others get fully independent living with minor or no assistance. Of course the higher need students go to fully assisted programs or remain with their family all their lives.

Currently weighting my options of going back to school and finish my bachelor's and get my teaching credential and join the program as a teacher with my own classroom and staff and shit, or to go back to school and get a placement exam in Spanish and become an interpreter & translator for my district (either moonlight after work or go full time)

Either option is good and got people in the district encouraging me on both ends.

For sure I'm taking sign language this summer, as one of the kids I'm in charge is non-verbal autistic.

    So much fucking fun.

The other fact is that law has one of the worst relevant employment statistics in the country.

  18. College ended a few years ago for me. I tried going back a couple years ago and didn't care much for it. There were also a few extenuating circumstances that got me to say "I've had enough." Been back in the job market since.
