Aww yeah! My dream of getting coked up and screwing a European hooker in a Taiga cosplay is that much closer to reality! Life is good.

You mean, going to a rock and roll concert, finding a hot chick and slipping things into her drink for hot sex later? I like your style.ashita said:

This is what happens when people cannot legally obtain recreational drugs and use them in a controlled environment. The drug is heroin, and the country is Russia, but the situation can occur with any such drug that has no natural negative side effects beyond its addictive qualities, and in any country where the economy and the state is elevated above basic human rights. Warning; it's not for the faint of heart!

Sorry; I think that the video I actually meant to post was this; although both show some of the debilitating affects of koaksil (krokodil).

I'm one of the few people who thinks we should legalize all drugs, not just MJ. Most of the people I know who take issue with that opinion of mine are pot smokers themselves, particularly those who come from lower-class economic backgrounds.
But it's not an issue I care about very much.

why
For one, the harm principle should govern all regulations of personal freedom. If one is not harming others in using drugs, then at least the actual USE of said drugs should be legal.
Secondly, making drugs illegal only drives them underground and causes more violence, worse addictions, and more serious crimes among those who use drugs.
I bet LESS people would do drugs if they were legal, actually!
Think about it--do most people you know base their decision on whether or not to do drugs on the LEGALITY of the drugs, or on whether they think that it is a smart idea?

Yeah I'm not reading that because it's by you

I've read a lengthy plea in favour of legalising all drugs by a respected politician over here and it looked pretty sound.
(disclaimer: This post isn't in any way related to my personal views on drug policies)

I did NOT copy that, but if you want to continue to believe that, I'm in no position to stop you. Furthermore, words are still comprehended the same by an unprejudiced brain whether or not they were 'copied'.
If individuals are not allowed the freedom to exchange ideas in an unbiased environment, then how can any meaningful discussion take place?
I would post another of the most telling arguments AGAINST drug regulation, but I'm not going to do so at the moment if there is no freedom of discussion here. It's a shame, really--I enjoy a lot of the members here; giascle, in particular, but there's no point in annoying someone you respect...
HA HA HA! GOT YOU TO READ MY INVISIBLE TEXT AGAIN!

No meaningful discussion can take place with you at all.

I found his posts in that Closer to Her Heart thread to be deeply thought provoking...
No wait, I meant stupid.

Well, each individual ought to be entitled to their own opinion, and I respect yours.
That being said, I feel I should go ahead and give the most compelling reason that drug use should not be regulated.
The principle of supply and demand that is so vital to the discipline of Economics can be categorised into two different situations when plotted on the two axes of a graph.
An elastic situation arises when the demand is highly affected by the supply; that is, when a higher price (due to greater scarcity) will lead to lower demand.
However, due to dependency (not limited to that which is caused by their addictive properties; sometimes dependency can occur with drugs which are not clinically 'addictive), drugs operate on a highly inelastic demand curve. This means that even if prices are driven upwards due to regulation (which causes drugs to be sold on the black market and become more scarce) this will only have the net effect of raising profits for drug dealers.
With higher profits, dealers are more able to buy weapons and network with potential buyers and sellers. In other words, the illicit drug trade is one which grows larger the more you try to regulate it--it's just simple economics!
Again, to all those whom it may concern, I apologise for not being a decent enough individual to warrant you taking the time to hold a 'meaningful discussion' with me, and I hope that you may find it in the goodness of your heart to let me know at some point in the future how I might be able to change in order for that to be possible.

Well, if most people don't like it or not its a good point.I had a Interesting discussion with someone who works for U.S Congress if U.S legalize Weed for example then they would to make laws treating it the same way as alcohol and cigarettes depending on the state plus taxation would be used as well.

Thanks for the considerate reply; you bring up a good point when it comes to comparing cannabis to alcohol and cigarettes. I am not well-informed when it comes to laws over in the U. S., but it is my impression that due to the failure of 'Prohibition', policymakers have decided that it is a better idea to tax cigarettes out of existence rather than making them illegal. I don't know if the same holds true for alcohol, but I have heard that it is much more expensive over in the U. S. than say, Belgium (when I studied at l'Université catholique de Louvain à Louvain-La-Neuve, beer cost less than soda at the local convenience store!)

I have never claimed to be smarter than anyone, and I don't know how one could 'act' smarter on an online forum, unless we are talking about role-playing or something.
Anyways, I am sorry if anyone assumed that I was claiming they were of lower intelligence than myself, took offence, and then called me an idiot--but you don't need to apologise at all, since I don't mind being called such names.
I don't take offence to being called an 'idiot', as I find the term quite endearing, ha ha! As a matter of fact, I just finished watching Season 1 of 'Baka to Test' today...
