Y'know, the second season was actually really good if people could just look past the art direction.
the first season of Gunslinger Girls was good not because of the plot, but because of the characters; the way the girls interacted with each other, their surroundings, and most of all with their guardians. it is the tales of how Henrietta responded to Jose's sister-complex issues, the ambiguity of Victor and Triela's father-daughter or lover relationship, the way the group responded to Angelica's death, how Claes reacted towards the death of her Guardian, and scene where Rico shot the boy who she felt connected with that captivated audiences.
on top of the art, the second season threw all those out in favour of following the manga's weak plot, adding a dash of JC-Staff styled forced romance drama, ostracizing season 1 fans.
