The first smart phone the IBM Simon first sold in 1994.
It had a touch screen interface over a decade before the iPhone,a 16mhz 8086 class cpu, and ran DOS like an old PC.

    That is just so boss.
I got my Captivate Glide replaced btw...
Decided fuck getting something more expensive that didn't have a keyboard...

  3. The legendary Nokia 3310.
It's the only phone to have lasted more then a week with Flandre.

Also an N9 after being ran over by a car.

Depends... some of their old stuff really was fucking strong as hell...
    Recently... just average I'd say.

Especially their old flip phones. I'm not to familiar with their new stuff though.

  7. Flip phones still have their advantages... they never went out of style in Japan for such reasons.

  8. Flip phones are only good cause it is cost effective in the protecting your screen part.

Iphones need a separate screen protector to be safe. Flip phones need none of that. Flip phones also do not need any protective casing.

They're also easier to use when multitasking: being able to flip it open to answer a call rather than having to slide your finger across a touchscreen is infinitely better.

Yep, best phone ever.. still overclocked to 1100Mhz as wel, it's almost as if it was modern technology ;) (2009 phone kicking ass in 2012!)

There is an app for that, I think.. you flip the phone to answer it. At least I saw comments saying that on some article where Samsung announced they were gonna add it to some phone. (HTC's supposedly already have it)

Besides my awesome N900 I also have a Cowon iAudio 7, hardly ever use it anymore but the battery life kicks butt (up to 60 hours from a single charge)

Much like the N900 it's bulky, heavy and I'm not giving a shit that it is - because it's great at what it does.

I think that's only the Samsung Galaxy S3, allowing you to call someone by moving the phone to your ear while reading their text. Some Sansung phones do already allow you to reject a call by making a movement as though you were putting the handset back on the hook of one of those ancient telephone sets.

I kinda miss flip phones to answer them you just flip it open and the screen is protected.
It seems everyone is pushing touch screens these days.
What flip phones are still offered have pretty old specs but then not everybody needs to play HD movies on their phone.

  13. I miss flip phones, too. And the keyboard on my BB. But those are both shit now, so I don't get much of a choice. Just a bunch of different touch-screen ones.

  14. Found this on hackday.com a $100 tricopter build.
I figure it's a good post for the gadget thread esp since it's a non phone gadget.
