I saw Kids in my Psychology of Adolescence class, ironically only a day or two after Aneko suggested against it. I'm not sure what I thought of it; it wasn't really depressing, but it certainly wasn't uplifting. I'm glad I saw it, though.

Not depressing in an Old Yeller sense. It just made me lose faith in humanity.

That's what I figured you meant. Iunno, nothing I haven't seen before.

I probably saw it 15 years ago, though. I'm not sure why I would have watched it.
Has anyone seen or heard much about The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas?

Youth in revolt and Rise of the planet of the Apes. The latter is one of the best movies, I have seen in the last 3 or 4 years.

Saw it, only remember the ending. I'm not sure why it was so critically acclaimed.

I have to agree with you. I do not know why but it was not that great imo.

I watched An Education recently. I'm fond of Carey Mulligan.

Who else is going to see Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer?Me! but not on friday, as my wallet wont let me, but I get paid on Monday so I'll do it then, and sneak in a burger while I'm at it, show my wallet who's boss and whatnot! Besides fucking movies food is overprices, I've snuck in tastier food for a fraction of what a hot dog costs at the movies

Two weeks ago, I took a day off and caught a matinée showing of The Avengers. Watching the Hulk slam Loki repeatedly into the ground was hilarious and almost worth the $8 admission. It took all the other fights and snide remarks between the "heroes" to make the $8 feel well spent. I then went to a video game arcade to play Raiden 2 & Complete Destruction Razing Storm.

How old are you, Aneko?
-----Just saw "Seeking a friend for the end of the world", I really enjoyed it.
It morphed- very comical for the first hr then slides slowly into a more romantic feel, but it wasn't cheesy- there was no denial of feelings~fight~make-up sequence to any of it. The film was very honest, though clearly paced a certain way as they only have 3 weeks. I feel like it's what ever fairytale romantic comedy wants to do while being taken as seriously as you would this film.
I don't like how the last 20 mins or so unfolded however, I felt what was such good smooth pacing got jacked up into high gear and for no real reason. They didn't seem to want the characters to just sit there and figure things out for a bit. There is also a big rush towards the end at some point, it was completely unnecessary as it could have had to the same ending without the sudden circumstance placed to hasten the end of the film. The last moment were pretty touching- but when the film ends, I wasn't left with much. I took something with me leaving that was my water and bookbag, but I don't find it significant enough to encourage everyone to go watch the film.
The last 20 mins, with the last 2 mins aside, didn't seem as well thought out as the rest of the film.
