The Guardian seems to have missed one of Mr. Vidal's quotes:
"I really don’t give a fuck. Look, am I going to sit and weep every time a young hooker feels as though she’s been taken advantage of?"
This was in response to a question about the arrest of Roman Polanski in Switzerland in 2009.
Polanski had fled the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with an underage girl.
The girl was 13 years old in 1977, when Polanski drugged and raped her.
It's too bad there is no correlation between talent and whether someone is a decent person.
