  1. Gerald Hatten "Jerry" Buss, majority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, passed away yesterday at the age of 80 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Death came after a year and a half struggle against cancer.
    After taking ownership of the Lakers, he inspired what was called the Showtime Era, and took the team onward to win 10 NBA league championships.He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010 as a contributor to the sport.

    Rest in Peace.

  18. Annette Funicello passed away today at the age of 70, due to complications from multiple sclerosis.
    As a child performer, she became one of the most popular Mouseketeers on the original Mickey Mouse Club. As a teenager she started a successful career as a singer. Later, as an actress, she popularized the "Beach Party" movies of the 1960's.
    Rest in peace.
