I just opened a family size bag of chips and found that the chips don't even fill up half of the bag. I don't eat chips very often, so I'm not sure if this it how it usually is. Still, it's rather disappointing to open such a large bag and find out that's all they give you.

I think they do that so the chips wouldn't get crushed so easily. It does feel kind of deceiving with a container only half full though.

I've been just biting the bullet and buy Tortilla chips and cheese whenever I crave them. I much rather be satisfied and have some for later then be disappointed by half bags of anything else.

From my experience....
The only brand that is (actually) filled properly is ~ 'Frito's Brand' ~ and they fill it generously...
The others fill them half way...
What I do, is weigh/compare the bag I want, the heavier is the winner and most of the time, its more full than most.
Now this is dependant on your location and I am only going by mass brand and not localized brands.

Something from our area. I think it only costs something like 20 or 30php, but it's already a lot for the price. Not chips though.
The air is there to prevent the chips from being crushed. Most brands fill it up halfway, I've encountered some that use smaller packs and fill it at 2/3rds, but still maintains the same weight. This is probably the reason why I don't feel cheated when I have Pringles.
