It's not a requirement, just a humanities class I'm taking as a credit filler. Plus, latin comes in handy in a lot of situations~

Like when the person beside you gets possessed and the closest thing you have to first aid is an english bible and the possessor/s taunt you into exorcising them in latin?

    They are so screwed.

When you need to impress people.

It also gives a pretty good grounding for learning other languages. Not just because French, Italian, Spanish and a few other minor languages are derived from it, but because it makes learning any other European language seem easy as fuck.

'Cept Finnish and Hungarian. And Estonian. Crazy moon languages. And Basque. That's some fucked up shit right there.

I'm studying a bunch of romance languages, like French and Spanish. Latin can help me figure out unfamiliar vocabulary based on the roots. Also, I'm an English major, and a lot of literature has references to Latin sayings.

Ah. So the one with the beard must be Ui then. Those two are so hard to tell apart.

  15. Where the HELL HAVE YOU BEEN

    Posted 11 months ago #
  16. pretty much this company sent him a letter in the mail about a job opening and so he went in for an interview yesterday and was hired right away. The said he'd be selling knives and that he'd have to come in for training the next day. basically he was going to get $16 for setting up an appointment with a potential client that he'd have to find himself plus 10% of whatever he sold, but first he would have to pay $200 to get the knife demo set.

There weer a few things I found fishy from the very beginning.
    1. they sent him a letter based on a referal from his friend that didn't even yet work for the company.

    2. they didn't have any sort of background check or drug test. You'd think if you're a company that'd be sending people out to sell your over priced knives, you'd want to make sure you're sending desirable people there.

    3. just the speed of everything. he got the letter like 2 days ago, had the interview yesterday, and training today. NO company works that fast.

and all of that was before the money thing came around. I mean what kind of company requires you to buy their product up front and then take 90% of the sale with no hourly income?

the worst thing is that it's all perfectly legal, and they purposely target kids right out of high school because they can convince them that they'll be able to make a ton of money, knowing damn well that these kids will be going back to school or going away to school in a couple of months. and probably won't be able to make that 200 back.

Hilariously someone here worked for Vector Marketing/CUTCO Cutlery, though I don't remember who it was. But yeah, multi level marketing scam. Your friend most likely will never be able to sell the knives, and if he does it will only be family members.
