I bought new socks yesterday, put on a new pair today only to find one had a hole in the toe. How does that even happen, they're new socks!

The socks are made with holes in them, to give them that "lived-in" feel.

Kinda like pre-ripped and sanded jeans.

  9. aww, that's a bummer. My cat, Buddy, seems to have lost a tooth. Top right fang, to be exact. It was already pretty smashed down, I think about 1/3 or 1/4 of it was still there. Looks ok, though; not infected or anything, and he still eats ok and gnaws on my arm.

I guess it's a good thing we "retired" him from active service last year and I took him down here to my apartment. Going into year nine with busted fangs would just leave him with his (massive) size and experience advantages over the younger, completely equipped newbies. I'm sure he'd do his best to take it and not complain, since he can absorb injuries like the Hulk, but I'd rather he not have to do that anymore.

On the plus side, he will be happy that school is out so I can hang out with him more. I'm happy that the semester is over, too. That sucked.

  11. I forgot to finish a paper for my effective speaking class that's due today and I can't find an open computer to work on. Gotta love how my school lets people use the PCs in the computer labs just to browse facebook, instead of keeping them open for students who actually need to do school work.

I don't know about you lot here and there, but every day things become worse, in this country.

Here, most of the teachers are the same and believe me, Italy is a fabulous place compared to Hungary(but that's not something one can take as a compliment).

  13. The socially dysfunct-kids are watching Scott Pilgrim. They are actually being civil. No one is screaming and bullshit. This is amazing.
    ----

I really happy at how may project turned out today. I had a week to find a proper representation of a word in an unconventional matter- by using materials other than inks, paints and the like.

My classmates did some cool shit. One of them made glam out of faux cocaine, placed it on a mirror top and rolled a dollar bill up for the snorting context. Someone else made this giant construction of paper and plastics forming the word recycle, and another guy made the word metro out of metrocard- It was immaculately cut, He mad circular collages out of the cards and then cut the letters into them so they look similar to the ones on train lines here. I could see it as an MTA ad.

He had actually messed up his foamcore while cutting so he made this board of his high discard high school metro cards to hide it. Clever, it looked really clean- I thought it was just for ornamentation.

I actually did a kind of performance piece. I broke up some DS lites and formed the word "Obsolete" out of the debris in front of my class.

My professor and the fellow game geek in class were impressed at least, I'm quite happy with the turn out. I conceived the idea Wednesday and decided to be brave and stick with it. It paid off. Haven't felt this good in a while.

  14. a neat hedgehog mentioned his little buddy

Thats not bad, did he run around outside a lot?

My 2nd cat, her name was Koge (japanesey name), lived for 32 years until she passed away in her sleep. Still had all her fur and all her teeth - and she was an outdoor cat to.

    32 years? That's a long time for a cat.

Buddy, being an un-neutered male for most of his life, got in a ton of fights and had a few rough times. Like when he was young, he almost died from poisoning when he somehow got covered in some kind of automotive fluid when he was full of bite wounds from a fight; walked into the kitchen (which was weird, because he never came that far into the house before then) passed out on his feet, and fell over.

The last few months before he was neutered, about seven years later, he got in a prize fight with something; broke at least one tooth, shattered several claws (one almost got ripped out), and had big wads of black, coarse fur and flesh jammed under his claw-sheathes. Having seen him take on two tomcats at once with far less drama, I would pay good money to know what the blazes he was fighting that day.

He doesn't seem to miss going outdoors now that we live in an apartment. Since he was neutered, he acts like a big kitten and gets all frisky and playful, when he was always so serious before. Less to think about, I guess. He already wasn't going on so many "walkabouts," so I think he was ready to get fat and retire anyway.

Well, it's not inconceivable. Longest living cat was... 38? I believe. We've had several that made it to 20.

no,... her momma was my first cat Popoki (Hawaiian for cat). Koge was the runt of Popoki's 3rd litter. Koge was born when I was 7 years old. My mom named her coz my mom is japanese from the old country.
Koge, was a ragdoll mixed calico with six colours. After I moved to the mainland US (michigan). She mainly kept my mom company.

When I went back to visit for six months I was almost 40 years old. Koge was still around but must of been happy to see me, or holding out till I came back to visit. She passed away when I was back in Hawaii.

Growing up in littlehood through high school, Koge was my best little buddy too.
