It would appear that Nintendo has dropped support for Nintendo Letter Box (known as Swapnote in NA).
That's a bummer if you ask me. I really liked the idea of being able to draw images and then send them as letters. I do hope they eventually bring it back in some kind of reformed matter (such as adding parental controlls perhaps so you can limit it), but one can probably expect it to not return.
I wonder what will happen with the mascot, Nikkia, following this...
She rather adorable and clearly the best mailbox mascot.
I'm sure they'll do the parental controls.

People in this thread and owners of a DS, explain to me the appeal. The flip-screen, early 2000's style pointer, ass munching resolution, and useless headache inducing gimmick astound me as to why it's so popular. I'm thinking of getting on, probably second hand, as there's quite a few games I'd like to play on it. Zero Escape, Shin Megami Tensei, and Gyakuten Saiban.
Sell me on your favourite console! Also what model/color do you prefer? Is the XL worth it or just bigger screen same resolution? No 2DS thank you.
Shin Megami Tensei is easily 80 hrs if you aren't a crackhead. Worth the buy, great installment, so much better than Strange Journey.
Pokemon/Monster Hunter 3U/Animal Crossing are the titles you'll play forever- MH3U however only has local play.
Some really good eshop titles have come about and for less than $10 as well as the streetpass games being incredibly addicting, even prompting you not me neet and leave your house to get you need to advance.
There are people that literally own no games but the streetpass ones and animal crossing along with a Netflix account.
If your technophilia is what clouded your judgment from getting it as soon as you found out about SMTIV, I advice you to push that aside.
Fire Emblem is also the resident Persona stand-in, if you must have your shipping fix.
