  1. How many people here enjoying their music and willing to go several step beyond to get the best sound quality for their listening pleasure?

I'm not really pro with these stuff, but i would love to get some opinion on what product sancom members are using. It will be awesome to see some Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Beyer Dynamic, Grado, AKG, Denon and etc along the way.

    Here is what i have:
    1st - iBeats by Dr. Dre earphones - $99
(+) Sound was good, I can't really give pro review with audio jargon <- noob
(-) Bass a bit too strong for my taste, other might like it though
(-) Cheap cable, didn't expect this from the so called MONSTER cable
(-) All earbuds was "close" design, It make my head hurt after awhile
    Verdict: 2.5/5

    2nd - Bose IE2 earphones - $89
(-) Sound quality is not as good as iBeats
(-) Again bad cable coating, i guess price do make huge different
(+++) The ears fit is awesome, iBeats does not fit securely in my ears, but this one does the magic, and "open" design could make me listen to music much longer than using iBeats.
    Verdict: 3/5

    3rd - Razer Ferox - $60
(+) Sound quality is powerful especially for it size
(+) Compact and the battery last longer than my laptop
(---) Shit durability, one of the speaker is broken for no apparent reason, i just bought it like 4 months ago and now they are pretty much dead
    Verdict: 1.5/5

  2. If you knew anything about audio, you wouldn't have even considered getting Beats or Bose.

    For free.

  4. I have Audio Technica AD900's driven by an ASUS Xonar Essence STX because I'm too cheap to buy a standalone amp.

They are pretty awesome headphones but don't really have enough bass for my taste.

  8. after spending €60 on a headset, I must agree with them. My previous set costed €20 and was so much better.

  10. I use those little Sony hook earphones. They fit comfortably around my ear for just about any type of movement. I can pull them out a little and let it hang on my ear so I can hear my surroundings while having some bgm.

I use a 8€ headset, and connected a 5 years old stereo to work as speakers for those times friends come over (almost never)

  12. I have a 20 dollar Sennheiser phone that is already enough for my amateur ears.

  13. For music, I prefer Audio Technica.

I'm currently using the 2010 Limited Ed EM7 for my mp3 player. The sound is balanced, though I wouldn't recommend using it in loud places since it doesn't have noise cancel padding.

At home, I use the SJ3. It serves as a good crutch for devices with inherently low speaker output (like my home laptop) and it has NC. Perfect for when I'm going on Hikki mode.

For TV though, I have the Phillips FM Wireless. Though there's the occasional static when you tilt your head in certain ways, the sound quality is pretty nice. It's just annoying that the only time you'll know that the battery needs charging is when the audio becomes a total line noise fest.

  14. My music professor always warned us, if you're investing in decent music equipment, you should just go all the way. The same way as guitars, unless you're paying US$400/€300+ or US$5000/€4000+ on guitars, the benefits of your headset aren't going to be truly worthwhile for their price and on practical terms they will be meaningless since the differences will be insignificant, except if you listen to music on a quiet room 90% of the time and doing nothing else, but then I would wonder why the hell you didn't get speakers. Most people walk around listening to music with noise diminishing their enjoyment, anyway.

Please don't get Apple or Bose headphones, they're obviously overpriced, and a half of the reviews on the internet are made with a headset from the best batch of products sent by the manufacturers, in most cases the differences are only durability, comfort(depends on your ears/head) and which one gets to shake your head better, they don't usually actually produce sound with better fidelity.

  15. Logitech Z-5500, Good sound, balanced, tinny at high hZ at high volume. boomy bass, has to be controlled and made lower, once lower it sounds much better.
9/10, 100 times better than my old bose stereo setup.

Tritton pc510 hda, good sound, one of only 3 true surround sound headphones, awesome, good highs nice mids and warm bass. Best headphones I've currently used. 3 physical imputs 1 nice mic with 50-15khZ response, speaker response is 20hZ-23khZ
10/10 5.1 with seperate drivers for each frequiency is much nicer than one big one controlling all.

All of these are used on my new asus Xonar DG, which improved sound a lot compared to integrated realtek audio shit.

  16. Had a pair of JVC HA500 or something.. forgot what they were called since I broke them a while ago.

My computer's plugged into some eagle arion speakers - too lazy to check what they are lmao

For mobile music, I use Beyer Dynamic DTX 60 ear phones, they're worth every penny :)

I guess that's what happened when the market were over saturated with the same product. All i need was a decent piece of earphones and you could see "Beat By Dr Dre" almost everywhere. I thought it must be a decent product for it to reach every nook and cranny of the city. But seems like i was wrong.

I give thumb up for the bose earphones because of the easy fit. And that's like one of the solid reason why i think it worth my money.

Well right now I'm using some cheap $10 skullcandy headphones. At first they gave me a headache at how bad they sounded then I kinda got used to it.

My favourite is my sennheisers. I got it for $45 I think it just sounds great.

And sound I'll be getting Mio's headphones soon.Mostly because they look great! I can't really pretend I'm an audiophile to that extent...

  20. Beats and Bose just have the best marketing. Skullcandy has the prettiest designs. None of this has any bearing on sound quality. If you want something good, the LAST place you want to look is what's overwhelmingly popular.
