There is a concern in some communities about "rules lawyering", and of course complaints of repression, if the administration pins itself down with specifics, but I wouldn't mind seeing some guidelines made public. However, that decision is not mine to make.

I hope at least that the lack of a clear set of rules will be borne in mind when dealing with newer members, and that they will be given the benefit of the doubt when their rule-breaking is not excessively heinous.

Thats exactly - the cause - and placement of that particular ruling... it was over abused and now its an effective standard (by HIGHER Admin) not to allow it any-longer. - regardless.

I shall not promote a lengthy discussion in this matter, as its been brought up repeatedly in different threads, rendering them useless for a time until the topic diminishes.
Everyone here - 'knows' - what the general rulings are and most abide by them.
We moderators also understand, that newbies will make the obvious mistakes, that's a given (yet is not a reason to ignore it either) - then again - senior/veterans members also know that they can guide the new members to avoid such cases as well.
But some don't (because) - they wish to see the outcome - because to them, its humorous and is not happening to them.
Yes, I know we have our resident - censorship/opposition zealots - that point fingers at us, as we are the ones to be blamed for the placement of rules, and said oppression, making us akin to the nefarious members of the Axis of World Oppression.
Thats fine and dandy, you need a - 'finger of blame' - to be placed, so why not us (or even me) as its happened before, and is used repeatedly by some anyway. - it comes with the job.
But I stated this many times and I sit by it...
Rules only become in-placed (after) the simplest of intentions/freedoms are abused, tested, and pushed to a point of repeated idiocy that they are then placed suddenly under such - 'oppressive rules'.
Cases in point:
The Loli years when it was banned because of repeated SPAMMING of images by a singular individual (again) look what happened. - its semi-regulated.
The same thing happened to the guro/garish aspects as well - its NOT ALLOWED in any form.
Its a decision that - YOU - the members must make for yourself, because its - YOU - the members who (indirectly) are creating the rules to be placed.
